More Noah and James wooooo!! Sorry I just love writing about online relationships

James' Perspective-

"How long are you guys gonna be gone?" James asked, following his parents as they got ready to go.

"We're coming back around 9." James' father said and James' eyes sparkled.

"Here are the emergency phone numbers, make sure to give Liam his medicine and check his temp, make sure he doesn't come into the kitchen while he's sick, and don't invite anyone over." James' mother said, handing James a bunch of stuff.

James nods, putting the medicine on the table.

They heard Liam cough from his room and James' mother sighs sympathetically.

"Try not to be mean to your brother okay?"

"I won't." James said and his parents smiled.

They packed up the car and left. James made himself a lunch and messaged his partner Noah, who was probably already at hockey practice.

"Hey, we can jump on call later if you'd like!" James messaged and his heart almost stopped after he realized what it meant.

Sure, he and Noah always sent each other voice messages but now they could talk in real time together.

James' eyes widened and a blush formed on his cheeks as nervousness filled his chest.

-

James paced around his room, trying to figure out what to say.

Would it be awkward?

Would he stutter and not know what to say?

Would they be flirting or saying cute things?

or would it be more like how normal friends talk?

James sighs and slapped his cheeks, trying to get himself out of the panicked state of mind.

"It'll be fine, he likes me I like him it'll be normal..." James sighs and heard his brother coughing from the other room.

He peeked his head into the dark room and saw Liam on his phone.

"Hey, do you want to take some allergy meds?" James asked.

"Mmm..no I'm okay. I'm kinda hungry." Liam said, putting his phone down.

"Okay well I can make you a sandwich."

"I don't know..."

"Want some crackers?" James offered and his brother nodded.

James got him a plate and while grabbing the snack for his brother, his phone buzzed.

His eyes widened as he saw the Tumblr notification and he read it, seeing it was from Noah.

"Yeah! I gotta change first and get some food but we can in say half an hour?"

Panic filled James and his heart started to race.

He felt like he couldn't breathe and his vision blurred. He gripped the counter and took a deep breath, trying to ground himself.

He heard Liam's hoarse cough and quickly finished getting him some food.

Liam ate a bit before taking a nap, leaving James alone.

James sat in his room and shut the door quietly before looking at the time.

He still had 10 minutes until the call, and he was a nervous wreck.

He didn't wanna say anything wrong, what if he got too nervous and didn't end up doing it? What if Liam hears and tells their parents? What if Noah or James say something and it moves their relationship too fast and things are ruined forever?!

James gripped his hair as he paced around hurriedly, his thoughts rushed and his anxiety building.

His phone buzzed and he jumped, seeing it was Noah messaging him saying to jump on Discord.

James' hands started shaking and he felt like he was about to faint.

He couldn't do this, the anxiety was too strong.

James shut his eyes and tried to shut up all the panicked voices in his head.

He sighed, nothing was working. It was all crumbling down and crushing him in the process.

He peeked an eye open and saw Noah had messaged him on Tumblr. James gasped, not realizing how much time had passed since Noah said they could call.

James saw Noah sent him a voice recording and he opened it.

"Hey Jam."

James let out a shaky giggle at the familiar nickname.

"Look, I know you're probably panicking over this but...we don't have to do this if you don't want too. You've told me before calls make you feel awkward and I understand that. I don't want you to be breaking down over something little like this. I can wait as long as you need to."

The message ended and James sniffed, wiping his eyes.

"I do wanna call! this is probably the only chance I can without my parents hearing and my brother barging in but I'm just so scared" James typed out.

Noah's response popped up a couple seconds later.

"Do you wanna try it?"

James hesitated before taking a deep breath and logging onto Discord.

He entered a call with Noah and his heart was thumping hard against his chest. His breathing rushed and his nails dug into his wrist, desperately trying to stay calm.

"Hey."

James felt time slow as he heard Noah's voice.

This was happening in real time.

This wasn't just some dumb recording from earlier.

He was actually talking on call with the person he loved.

James smiled, his anxiety calming a bit.

"Hi."
