TESEHKI
It's been a week since I've been in the hospital with Ace. She still hasn't woken up from her coma, but she is making progress. Her vital levels are improving, her breathing is becoming way better. There's a chance that she could wake up within the next few days. But, it's already been a week. I have to get back to Junior, and I feel guilty because of it.
"I have to get back to our baby. When Ace wakes up, make sure to call me. I want to be the first one to talk to her. I don't know if I'll be able to come back down here, but when you guys come to Baltimore, I'll be waiting at home."
I explained to Jude. She's actually a pretty cool person. At first, I was kind of iffy about her. But I can definitely tell she works this job because she genuinely cares about people, it's not about the money to her.
"Of course. When Ace wakes up, you'll be the first one I call. Have a safe flight, Tesehki."
"Thank you. And thank you so much for looking after Ace for me and coming back over to Baltimore to help us. It's seriously a huge help, especially since we have a five month old baby at home."
"No need to thank me at all. I do this because I care. Go ahead and get back to your baby, we'll see you soon."
Jude gave me a smile and rubbed on my shoulder a bit. I smiled and walked back over to Ace, placing a kiss on her forehead.
"I love you, baby. I'll see you again soon, me and Junior will see you again soon."
I might've been tweaking, but After I said that, I could've sworn I seen Ace crack a little smile. Jude chuckled then looked at me.
"Don't worry, you're not going crazy. I seen that, too. Ace definitely just smiled at you."
"That's the first smile I've seen from her since the last time I seen her. You know, I'm very thankful that she's alive. But it's like, what if everything changes between us?"
"I'm gonna tell you upfront; a lot of things are going to change. Trauma has its way of changing people, sometimes more drastic than others. But, if she loves you just as much as I see you love her, that love will always be there. That will be one thing that won't change."
"Oh, she sure does. She even tells me she loves me more than I love her all of the time. The love we have for each other is so real, I can't even begin to explain it to you."
I slid Ace's hand into mine, kissing her hand gently due to some cuts still being up there. Jude nodded and started to smile again.
"I can see that. Then when it comes to the love that stands, there shouldn't be any worries. She may change a little bit due to everything that happened, but it shouldn't be that much of a change in your relationship. And like I said, with my therapy, she should be just fine."
Jude started to unwrap Ace's head so she can replace it with a new wrap. Ace had to get an emergency surgery when she first got here, due to bleeding and her being stabbed in her head. They literally had to shave her hair off and everything just to make sure they got everything right.
"Thank you for your reassurance. I'm gonna get going before I miss my flight. Remember, PLEASE call me the second she wakes up."
My biggest fear is; what if she loses some of her memory? Or if worse, all of it? That often happens when something very traumatic happens with your head.
"I will, don't worry. Go ahead and take care of your son. Ace is in good hands."
"Thank you so much, Jude. I can't tell you how grateful I am for you."
I got off of the bed, hugging Jude tightly as she hugged me back.
This is sure gonna be a long ass flight back home...
