CHAPTER FOUR
We Can Do It?
After a few back-and-forth emails, we decided to meet up at my home since the kitchen was (slightly) bigger. After that, I informed my housemate (for the sake of courtesy and my own safety) and picked Karthik up from the tram stop.
"Hello," I said.
He smiled and returned back a "Hello."
"We need to walk about five minutes to get there, you okay with that?"
"What no personal carriage to take me there?"
"Well, I did order a palanquin, but you know, you might perceive that as an insult to your athleticism,"
He touched his heart, "I didn't know you cared so much about how I feel,"
"I don't. But I'm pretty convincing, huh?"
He gasped dramatically but his eyes had a playful glint to them.
About halfway there, I asked, "So, what should we do first? You teach me, or I teach you first?"
"Can you teach me first? Then we can finish the day just eating."
I hoped he would say the cooking first since I like getting over the hard parts earlier. But what he said did make sense, so I agreed to it.
Once we reached my home, and changed into house slippers, we were greeted by Alex, who was sitting on the couch taking her headphones off.
She stood up and said, "Hello."
"Hello," Karthik said back.
"Alex, this is Karthik. Karthik, Alex"
"Nice to meet you," Karthik said to Alex.
"Same here," she looked at the time on her phone, "Ooh, I have a Zoom meeting soon. See you both later."
"See you," he said.
"Have some biriyani when you finish," I told her.
"Will do," she said with a smile and gave Karthika a nod, before entering her room.
Karthik smiled back, before looking at me.
I walked over to the dining table pulling one of its seats. "You can sit here. Do you want some water?"
"Yes, please," he said.
When I returned, he was looking around our apartment from his seat. It's not super spacious, but it's nice enough to fit in a couch, a TV, a washer and dryer, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen with a small four-person dining table.
I placed a glass of water in front of him. He said, "Thanks" and took out his laptop.
I sat next to him turning on my laptop as well. "Do you have any document you want to fix?
"Uhm, do you mind teaching me the basics first? Like how to do the header, paging..." he looked a bit guilty as he said that.
I gave him an encouraging smile, "No problem. Let's just open a new document."
"Now, click the Insert tab, and you will see the Header and Footer section,"
He nodded his head.
"Which one do you want to do first?"
"Header."
"Okay, so click the Header, and you will be given samples of how you want it to look. Since our school usually makes the subject name on one side and the assessment title on the other, I usually just use the blank three columns and then click backspace on the middle part, like this"
