chapter 9 - Dale

Amy spits out her drink, and norita sighs but seems relieved at the same time.
"You're WHAT?"
"I'm confessing to him." Amy seems unusually excited, looking between me and Norita to tell her I wasn't joking around.
"Yeah, breaking news: our dale is finally telling her crush she loves him after a year." Norita smiles and Amy excitedly claps.
I let out a breath I didn't knew I was holding.
"So when are you going to do it?"
"Tomorrow." Amy looks like she would pass out if she could.
"Wait, so soon? I thought it was next week or something." Norita says a bit surprised, I shake my head. I had decided to confess sooner.

"I'm in love with you." My fingers begin trembling hard, I can't even look him in the eyes. There's silence between us, I knew he was going to reject me so I continued.
"I have been in love with you for the past year now. And I know that..." I look up at him, a bit out of breathe. Our eyes meet and I instantly want to cry.
"That you don't like me back." My voice is hushed, loud enough for only him to hear. His eyes were wide with surprise, I held back tears. I wanted to run away but I needed to hear it, I needed to hear what he wanted to say.
"You're joking, right?"
I shake my head, tears forming in the corner of my eyes.
"Do I seem like I'm joking?" I look down in order to not cry Infront of him. But my voice betrays me, breaking slightly as I spoke.
"Dale, I'm sorry." Sorry?
He was sorry.
Sorry, but why?
That's just a stupid question, Dale.
He was sorry because... He didn't like you back.
"I understand." I nod, before trying to smile and walk away.
"We don't always get what we want."
