"You Did WHAT?" Matthew yells, slamming his locker, causing me to flinch.
"You rejected her?" His eyes widen. I'm not sure why instead of telling my own friends, I was telling this guy I hardly knew about rejecting Dale. Not to mention I was holding him by the collar a few days ago.
"Look, I just... Didn't know what to say." I face palm.
"Dude I thought you liked her!" I hesitate before answering.
"I- I don't know! I have so many mixed feelings about this."
He shakes his head in disapproval.
"It must've taken her a lot of courage to confess to you. But you're going to lose her if you don't do something quick." I stay quiet, just then, someone chirps my name.
"Thomas!" I look behind me to see emily and lily walking towards me.
I look back at matthew who gives me a disapproving look and shakes his head.
"You're really losing the girl that loves you for a girl that doesn't." He whispers before walking away, I wanted to yell after him and tell him it wasn't like that but I don't. Emily and lily approach me, Emily's usual flirty demeanor coming back as she smiles at me.
From the corner of my eyes, I see Dale. A pang of guilt crashes into me as I realize what she must be thinking.
"I didn't know you and matthew were... Friends." She raises an eyebrow and I awkwardly laugh trying to avoid bringing him up. How was I supposed to tell them that we were talking because the girl I supposedly fought him for was also the girl I rejected a week ago?
