The group sprang into action, working quickly to set up traps around the cabin. Y/N and Jungkook rigged snares and tripwires around the perimeter while Namjoon and Yoongi worked on barricading the windows and fortifying the doors. Taehyung stayed close to Hoseok, who was still weak from his injury but insisted on helping where he could.

"We don't have much time," Y/N muttered under their breath as they tied a line between two trees, setting up a tripwire that would activate a sharp trap if triggered. They could hear the faint sounds of the scavengers in the distance, moving closer with each passing second.

Jungkook glanced up, his face hard with determination. "We'll be ready for them."

The tension in the air was palpable. Every small noise seemed amplified, every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig sending waves of anxiety through the group. They were outnumbered and outgunned, but they had the advantage of knowing the terrain—and they weren't going down without a fight.

As the last trap was set, the group retreated back to the cabin, positioning themselves near the windows and doors, weapons ready. The sun had risen higher now, casting long shadows across the forest floor. The scavengers would be upon them soon.

"They're close," Yoongi whispered, peering through a crack in the window. His voice was steady, but Y/N could see the flicker of worry in his eyes.

Suddenly, a shout echoed through the trees, followed by the distinct sound of footsteps approaching rapidly. The scavengers were here.

"Stay calm," Namjoon ordered, his voice low but firm. "We stick to the plan."

Y/N gripped their weapon tightly, their heart hammering in their chest as the first scavenger appeared, stepping into one of the traps. A loud snap followed by a scream filled the air, and the group tensed, waiting for the onslaught.

The attack came swiftly. The scavengers charged through the trees, some of them hitting the traps while others pressed forward, undeterred. Y/N could hear the chaos outside—the clatter of weapons, the cries of pain as the traps claimed their victims, and the shouts of the scavengers as they advanced.

Inside the cabin, the group held their ground. Jungkook was a blur of movement, darting between windows and firing off shots whenever a scavenger came too close. Yoongi and Namjoon fought side by side at the door, keeping it barricaded as the scavengers pounded against it.

But then, in the midst of the chaos, a loud crash echoed through the cabin. One of the barricaded windows had been breached. Taehyung, who had been watching over Hoseok, jumped to his feet, weapon in hand.

Before anyone could react, a scavenger burst through the window, lunging at Taehyung. Y/N's heart dropped as they saw the blade in the scavenger's hand, moving too fast for Taehyung to block.

"No!" Y/N screamed, rushing forward, but it was too late.

The blade plunged into Taehyung's chest, and he staggered back, eyes wide in shock. Blood blossomed across his shirt as he fell to his knees, his weapon slipping from his grasp.

Namjoon let out a roar of fury, charging at the scavenger and taking him down with a swift, brutal blow. But the damage had been done.

Y/N dropped to Taehyung's side, their hands trembling as they pressed against the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. "Taehyung, stay with me," they pleaded, their voice breaking. "Please, don't leave us."

Taehyung's breathing was shallow, his eyes glazed with pain. He looked up at Y/N, a weak smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I'm... sorry," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I... tried..."

"No, no, no," Y/N whispered, tears welling in their eyes. "You're going to be okay. We'll get you through this."

But even as they spoke, Y/N could feel the life slipping away from him. Taehyung's body grew still, his eyes closing for the last time.

The world seemed to slow to a crawl around them. Y/N's hands were stained with blood, their heart breaking as the reality of Taehyung's death settled in.

The sounds of battle raged on outside, but for Y/N, everything else faded away. Taehyung was gone. Another friend lost to this nightmare.

Namjoon knelt beside them, his face pale with grief. He placed a hand on Y/N's shoulder, squeezing it gently. "We'll mourn him later," he said, his voice rough with emotion. "Right now, we need to survive."

Y/N nodded numbly, their heart heavy with the weight of loss. They stood, wiping the tears from their eyes, and picked up their weapon once more.

There would be time to grieve for Taehyung later. For now, they had to keep fighting.
