Messiah grunted as he pulled a weight set down to his chest. He groaned from the feeling burning his stomach. "Fuck." He shouted. Messiah returned the bar to its resting place.
He sat up and kicked the water bottle beside his feet. Water scattered over the floor. Naomi appeared beside the door. He looked into her eyes before taking the small towel in his hand and placing it over his head.
"You did what was right for her Messiah."
"That don't stop me from feeling like a failure." He snapped back. Naomi stepped over the water into the gym. She looked around it before moving to his side.
Her hand touched his back and he tensed for a second. "The way you're acting right now makes you a failure. Your insecurity of being alone is overshadowing what's important."
"She's not feeling alone anymore. Just because you fear being alone, it was never right to put that burden on Shay Shay. You know that Messiah." Naomi rubbed over his back. He didn't say anything.
"I know that's not what you want to hear right now. But you need to hear it. You're not wrong. She was excited to go."
"She called me uncle Messiah when she left. I went from dad to uncle." He shook his head.
"She was never yours to tell her that in the first place. And it won't change that she loves you like a father. You know she's going to come to visit you Messiah. Some people don't get to be apart of a child's life once they make this decision."
"Maleah is going to be sure that she gets to come back and visit. But she had more for her. Was able to offer her more." Naomi sighed. "It's weird not having her here. But it was what was important and needed for her."
Messiah rose to his feet. "Alright." He walked away from her. Messiah climbed the steps to the first floor of his home. As he walked to the door Ezekiel stepped in with a smirk. It dropped when he looked at Messiah.
Ezekiel blinked two times and he busted out laughing as Azul stepped in behind him. "What?" She asked before looking to Ezekiel. "What did you tell him?"
"Nothing. I just walked in and the nigga laughed." He shrugged. She stared at him for a while. "What Azul?"
"Why you keep calling me that?" She folded her arms.
"Cause that's what Gem named your ass." He shrugged. "Talk to her about it."
"You know what I'm talking about Ezekiel."
"When yall get back?" Naomi asked and relief covered Ezekiel's face. Messiah laughed again. He quickly fixed his face as Azul stepped in front of him.
"What?" He asked her with a frown.
"Keep moving weird Ezekiel."
"Man a nigga ain't do shit." He scoffed moving his left hand over his head.
