I placed my fork on my empty and bit back a tired and happy sigh while I grabbed my napkin and started to wipe my face. I didn't say a word and "looked" at my group, pressing my lips into a thin line.

My heart ached and was filled with pain because I knew that this was the last time we would be in the same room with one another, until something in the future could bring us back together again without us trying.

John cleared his throat and shifted in his seat while he looked at everyone, setting his fork down to symbolize that he was done. "Now," he said and raised an eyebrow in question. "Are you all ready to visit your new home?" he asked and cocked his head while he studied the group.

They stayed silent and looked at each other before they looked at me. They didn't know what to say, what to do, and they wanted me to say something that would let John know what they wanted to do.

I hesitated and shifted in my seat before I cleared my throat and licked my lips, and John instantly looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Is Henry still coming in a couple of hours?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I looked at him.

"Yes," John said and nodded in confirmation. "We will meet him at the main house."

"And it will take thirty minutes to get to their new home?" I asked, and he nodded in confirmation while he stayed silent. "So it will take about two hours to get everything done and make sure that everyone is situated inside the new house?"

"More than likely," John said and leaned back in his seat, folding his arms across his chest and setting his jaw while he studied us. "Are you wanting to make sure that Mandy gets situated with her father before the rest go to their new house and get settled there?" He raised an eyebrow in question.

"Please," I said and nodded in confirmation, biting back a small sigh of relief. "I want to make sure that they are situated and safe and sound, but I want to keep an eye on Mandy until she is in her father's care."

"Then why don't we go shopping?" Katherine asked and raised an eyebrow in question. There was a small smile on her face while she looked at the kids before she looked at John with another smile on her face. "Would that work? I will make sure that they are back in time."

John looked between the two of us before he hummed and looked at his mate, slowly nodding. "We both can make sure that they get back safely, Katerine," he said before he looked at all of us. "We can take you all shopping and make sure that you all have stuff that you can take with you," he said. "Would you like that?"

"Like new clothes?" Bethany asked, trying but failing to contain her hope. She shifted in her seat and looked between the two of them with wide eyes. "Is that what you are talking about?"

Katherine laughed and slowly nodded in confirmation. "Yes, Bethany," she said and bit back another chuckle while she cleared her throat. "We can get you all new clothes and then a few cell phones so that you all can contact each other."

"That part is too much," I said and shook my head, stopping at the phones. "We will accept the clothes, toiletries, toys if it is something that they want, but the phones are something that we can't accept."

"But you will be able to contact each other if you get phones," Katherine said and shook her head. "It will be no trouble to do this for you all, Carley." She bit back a small smile and tucked her head closer to her chest. "Please, allow us to do this for you."

I hesitated before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. I didn't say a word, not knowing what to say and do, especially since I had no idea what type of phones they would try to get us and what would work for everyone.

"We can get phones that only allow phone calls and texts," John said, "if that is something that you are worried about, Carley." He looked at some of the girls before he looked at me. "That will be for the younger ones, of course."

"But I don't want you all to have to pay a lot of money for us to have phones or for us to use them, John," I said and shook my head, biting back a small sigh. "I know that it would be ok for now, but what about in the future? Mandy and I are about to turn eighteen here shortly. The next two are fifteen and so forth. It will be a lot and not something we can do."

"We'll worry about that in the future," Katherine said and shook her head. "Also, Julian and Marcel will help as well." She looked at her mate and then looked at me, hesitating ever so slightly. "We want to make sure that this is an easy transition for all of you and want you to know that there is still good in this world."

"Please allow us to do this for you all, Carley," John said and bit back a small smile, and I looked at him, not knowing what to do or what to say. "Please," he said and tucked his head closer to his chest while he looked at me. "It will not be a problem for us at all, now or in the future."

"You will be able to make sure that we stay safe," Bethany said, her voice barely above a whisper, and I looked at her and bit the inside of my lip, weighing the pros and cons of them having a phone, even though I knew that it would be for the best.

But I didn't want them to be a burden...

"You can also try to get to us quicker if you know that we need you," Bethany added. "That will help some of your worries and concerns."

I bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded, relenting, especially since I would be able to help them if I needed to. "Ok," I said, my voice barely above a whisper before I turned to look at John. "Thank you, John and Katherine," I said and looked at Katherine. "We'll accept the phones and whatever else you think we need, and we will forever be grateful for it and be forever in your debt."

John chuckled and shook his head. "You all will not be in our debt, so do not think like that for a second, Carley," he said with a small hum in his voice while he bowed his head ever so slightly. "We are doing this because you are now our family, and they are your family, so we will help them and make sure that they stay safe and sound. You have our word."
