The meeting lasted well into the night, where we described what had happened not only the day that they were there by themselves but the abuse we had endured for more than a decade.

There were times when the three men growled so loudly that the others weren't able to cover their growls with coughs completely, leading to some questions from us, which weren't answered.

Mandy was amused when those happened, but she never once said a word to them about their lack of control and how they could blow their cover by growling so much. She didn't want the other kids to know that there were supernatural creatures when they were only human themselves.

It was decided that the children were to stay with John and Katherine for the time being while they figured out who would work the children and to find them families so that they wouldn't have to go to a different place than where they have been.

So they were all in my room and were all on my bed, with many of them excited to be on something so soft while I was at the foot of the bed on the floor with Mandy beside me.

"This bedroom is amazing," Bethany said in awe while she took it in from the edge of the bed, nearer to me than the others.

"Mmmm," I said with eyes closed. I rubbed Mandy's arm, letting her relax and not be on guard.

"Are you going to decorate it?" Bethany asked. She paused, and I could feel her looking at me with a cocked head. "Can you decorate it?"

"I am sure that I can," I replied, keeping my eyes closed. "However, I won't be able to see anything but darkness."

"But what if there is some magical way that you can get back your sight and see for the first time?" Bethany asked. "Do you want to keep it so bland and boring?"

"If there is a magical way that I can get my eyesight back, let me know," I said with a small bit of sarcasm in my voice, and she snorted, amused, "then I will let you know if I still want to keep it bland and boring."

There was a knock on my door while we were talking, and we stopped and looked at it. "It's me," Max said from the other side of the door. "And Valen and Vallum." He paused. "Can we come in?"

"Please?" Valen asked in a tone that seemed to chastise his older brother for the lack of manners. "It is polite to say please, Maxwell."

"Shut up before I smack you, Valen," Max said in that gruff voice that he used in a joking manner.

"Mom," Valen complained, and I rolled my eyes and shook my head at my new siblings. "Max threatened to hit me."

"What did you do to make him threaten you?" I heard Katherine say from somewhere inside the house. "I know that he wouldn't threaten to do it if you yourself didn't do something to provoke him."

Valen gasped. "I didn't do anything," he complained, and the other girls giggled. "All I said was for him to say "please" because we want to go into Carley's room. All he asked was that could we come in without the proper manners."

"Are they always like this?" Bethany whispered, leaning down so that she was ear distance from me. There was a small bit of amusement in her voice, and I couldn't help but smile and shrug.

"Maxwell, what did I tell you about using your manners?" Katherine asked. "Carley isn't going to let you in there if you don't use them."

"But, Mo-om," Max complained. "I want to go in."

"Then use your manners," I said and earned a gasp of shock from him in return. I smirked and cleared my throat. "Valen won that round."

"Uh, how rude," Max said, amusement in his voice, and I had a feeling that he covered his mouth because his voice was muffled.
