I was seated in Max's car, scowling because I was wearing socks and shoes. I wasn't able to see anything nor feel the vibrations through my feet because they were covered with stuff so thick.

I was on my way to my new school, thankful that Max was actually going to be in the same grade as me. I had no idea what I was going to do and how I would navigate the school without his help and hoped that there would be others to help me as well.

"You know, there is no need to scowl," Max said, and I turned my head and scowled. He was smirking; I had a feeling that he was. "I mean, it's not a bad thing to wear shoes, is it?"

"I can't see," I said, waving my hands in front of my face. "How else am I supposed to navigate the hallways?"

"Your stick and clicking your tongue to the room of your mouth," Max replied. "Besides, both Peter and I will be able to help you navigate around the school. Just be careful of other Werewolves."

"Are there any other packs that I have to worry about?" I asked. "Or is this school inside pack territory?"

"It's not inside pack territory," Max replied, "but there are no other packs that will be there. There had been rumors that Caden and Theodore, the Alpha that is near is, will make a new high school and merge the two "smaller" schools into one big one, but that hasn't been the case yet."

"What do you mean by "smaller"?" I asked. "I think we have different definitions on that word."

"It's two stories," Max said. "Don't worry; I think that I have all the classes with you."

"Why do you say that?" I asked, giving him a weird look. "Did you have your parents make sure that my schedule matched yours?"

"Yep," he said, and I could tell that he was nodding his head. "It was the only way to make sure that you didn't freak out." He paused. "How big was the school that you went to?"

"One story," I replied. "So, thanks." I offered him a small smile, grateful that he was there to help me.

"Don't mention it," Max said. "Peter is in a couple of your classes, and Sam is in some as well. I'll try to make sure that he doesn't do anything stupid."

I nodded. "Thank you," I said. I pushed my sunglasses up my nose and felt as the car started to slow down. "Are we there?" I asked.

"Yep," Max said, pulling into a parking spot. He placed the car in park and turned it off. "Don't open the door," Max said, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. "I am serious, Carley."

"I won't," I promised. "Just hurry up, so we don't become late. I don't want to be late on my first day of school."

"We still have time," Max said. "We still have to get our books from the library before we go to class."

"Wait, so did class just start?" I asked. I heard Max open the door and slam it shut without answering me. "Rude," I muttered, waiting for him to open the door and let me out.

"To answer your question," Max said, opening the door, "yes, we just started school too, so it's going to be kind of a relaxed day."

"Hopefully," I said. I grabbed my staff from him and let him help me out of the car. My whole body was tense, and I felt like a newborn babe, stumbling around and not feeling as confident as I normally would.

"You look so uncomfortable," Max said. He gently grabbed my hand and started to lead me, making me feel a little better.

"Well, ya, I rely on my feet a lot," I said. "More than my staff and my abilities." I clicked my tongue and moved my head to catch some of the vibrations from the car. "I don't think people would like it if they see a mark on their car from my staff."

Max snorted but didn't reply. "Hey, Charlie," he called, out spying someone he knew. "You're here early."

The person moved over to us and away from a group of people gathered on the sidewalk. "'Sup, Man. Who's this?"

"There is a little rise," Max said to me. He gently grabbed my hand with my staff and tapped it, and I immediately lifted my foot and took a step down carefully.

"Max, who is this, and does she have a stick?"

"She's my sister," Max replied. "Carley, this is Charlie. He lives in the community that we live in. Charlie, this is my new sister, Carley."

"How do you do?" Charlie asked, sticking his hand out for me to shake. He waited, but I made no move to let go of Max's hand nor my staff. "Why is she leaving me hanging?" he asked in a mock whisper, and I rolled my eyes. "Is she blind?"

"Yes," I replied, interrupting Max. "And... I am not really sure if I want to touch your hand. You seem like someone that has..." I glanced at Max.

"Sex?" Max asked, sounding rather amused.

I nodded my head before looking back at him. "In the last hour or so."

"I have not had sex in the past hour," Charlie said a little too quickly. His heart pounded in his chest, and I could tell that he was lying.

I took in a deep breath and smelled his scent as well as something that smelt fruity. "Do you wear fruity perfume?" I asked, and Max snorted.

Charlie placed his hand down and stared at me rather suspiciously. He took in my scent as if he was trying to find something. "What are you?" he asked. "How did you know?"

"Blind," was my reply. "I have more sensitive senses because of it."

"Wait, you are blind?" Charlie asked. He waved his hand in front of my face, and I scowled. "Can you see that?"

"No, because she is blind," Max said, sounding annoyed. "So, would you quit it?"

"Fine, I was just checking," Charlie said. He turned away from us when he heard his name being called before turning back. "Well, I will see you two later. I have been summoned." He waved and ran off, and Max shook his head.

"I am sorry about him," he said, and I shrugged. He started to lead me towards the school entrance making sure that I wouldn't be run over.

I shrugged my shoulder, not replying. I was used to it, unfortunately. Some people thought that just because I was blind, they could walk over me.

However, they were going to learn that I didn't like being walked over. Just because I was blind didn't mean I was weak. I was far stronger than I looked, and I was going to show them how strong I was.
