Annabeth
-Two Years Later-
"Annabeth!" Thalia yelled as she pulled me into a bear hug. I grinned and squeezed her back, gently prying out of her tight grip. "I'm so glad you guys made it!"
"Yeah, well, we decided you guys were worth our time after all." my boyfriend smirked, stepping into the room and pulling his snow-flecked beanie off. Thalia punched his arm, and he laughed before pulling me in and kissing me on the cheek.
"Eww, not in front of me guys," Leo groaned as he shoved Thalia and fist-bumped Percy. Rolling my eyes, I followed Thalia into the kitchen where the smell of freshly baked lasagna immediately hit my nose. I shrieked as something attacked me, then started laughing as I realized it was Rachel. She pulled back and grabbed my hand, leading me to the living room where garlands and holly were stringing the walls and the beautiful Christmas tree shone in all its glory. My eyes went to one corner of the room, and I nearly choked- was that mistletoe?
"This is beautiful, Rach! But, um... why the mistletoe?"
"Ohh..." she winked at me, and I took the hint and decided to leave it, my cheeks blushing red.
I jumped as yells sounded from the kitchen, and we immediately went to check only to find Jason and Nico covered head to toe in flour while the floor was covered in white, with Beckendorf trying to look mad but failing miserably as he bit the inside of his cheek to hold in his laughter.
"Jason! I told you you were in charge!" Thalia groaned, as Rachel rushed to get the vacuum. Nico rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, and smiled at me. "Annabeth, what's up?"
Nico was usually never so cheery. I guess it's just the Christmas effect.
I smiled at him and he stepped forward to hug me. Shocked, I stepped forward, and hugged him. He pulled back, and grinned, then his gaze moved down and his expression became mortified. "Oops-"
I looked down, and saw my entire outfit covered in flour. "NICO!" I screeched, immediately starting to chase him around the flour covered kitchen, while everyone laughed at my state. Nico evaded my grasp easily, and while I was getting ready to toss a jug of water on him Percy walked in. He glanced at my state and his jaw dropped.
"I hate you guys!" I groaned, putting my face in my hands as the laughter only increased. Percy smirked down at me and took me upstairs, grabbing one of Thalia's hoodies and shorts for me to put on.
"I think you look gorgeous, flour or not." His husky voice sent chills through me and I bit my lip as I rushed into the bathroom to change, then went back downstairs while avoiding looking him in the eye.
By the time we got downstairs, the mess had been cleaned and the dishes were being set on the table. Thalia placed her signature lasagna in front of me, and I immediately started loading my plate while everyone else chuckled.
"Shut up, you're all fatter than me," I scoffed as I shoved bite after bite in my mouth. So good.
"Can I try some?" Percy grabbed my fork, ignoring his lying right there, and took a bite while holding my gaze, the tension clear as I snatched my fork back and avoided blushing as much as possible.
"Jeez, lovebirds, go get a room."
"Shut up, Nico," Percy said, tearing his gaze away from me. Realization suddenly struck me as I stood up, outraged. "You- you stole my lasagna! How dare you!" I yelled dramatically. In the blink of an eye, he snatched my plate and stood up, holding it way out of my reach as I jumped effortlessly.
"Give it back! You all are evil!" As soon as I was about to tackle him, he set the plate back down and immediately started tickling me, while I laughed uncontrollably.
"Guys? Are we forgetting we're not the only ones in the room right now?" Beckendorf raised his eyebrows.
Me and him immediately sprung apart, blushing hard. A few chuckles were heard around, and once we came to a truce we all started digging into the delicious meal. I loaded as much as I could of everything. Free food, people!
"How's the first year of college going for you two?" Thalia questioned. "It's going great," Percy answered. I couldn't believe I was in college already.
I never expected my life to suddenly become so perfect.
The others chatted while I sat there, lost in my thoughts. As soon as we finished, Percy cleared his throat and pulled me out of the dining room. "Have fun guys!" someone sniggered, as he took me into a room and shut the door.
"Wha-"
He pulled something out of his pocket, and I gasped. It was a beautiful locket, with a picture of the both of us from graduation last year. Our initials were carved on the outside, and inside, there was a minuscule quote.
You came into my life, and I couldn't ask for anything better.
A lump rose in my throat, as I put the locket around my neck and pulled him in. "My early Christmas gift to you," he said with a grin.
"It'll always stay where it is," I whispered. "I love you so much."
"I love you too. Merry Christmas, Annabeth."
"Merry Christmas."
It was weird how life takes you in different paths sometimes. You have ups, and downs, and not everything goes the way you want. But, it all comes together soon. With time, and patience.
And, right now? I couldn't ask for anything more.
