Chapter 2

As the car took turns, I started to realize where Alissa was taking me.
"Lisa don't tell me you are taking me to the office."
"Well ma'am it was your choice after all."
She said with a satisfied grin on her face.
"Like I said... wicked."
I said as I turned to sit in a comfortable position and started playing with my phone.

Moments later, we got to the car lot and some guard I did not know opened the door for me.
"Good morning, and welcome Ms. Blackwood."
"Thank you. And your name is?"
"I'm Leon Ma'am. I am your personal body guard assigned by Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood respectively."
"Great. Another person I can't fire. Thanks mom and dad. Lisa?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Did you tell anyone else that am coming here?"
"Just the CEO ma'am. No one else."
"Are you sure he didn't tell any of the employees that am coming here?"
"Yes, ma'am I gave him strict orders not to do so."
"Alright then. I want to do something. Test some people. Leon, don't walk with me unless I tell you so. Only meet me in my office alright?"
"Yes ma'am. But why not now?"
"You'll see."
I said putting my hair into a ponytail, wearing a black shabby top and eye glasses that made me look like a total homeless nerd.
I walked into the elevator with Lisa and Leon. As soon as we got into the 10th floor, Lisa and Leon walked in like they didn't know me. I walked up to one of the employees.
"Hi. My name is Vanessa. Am new here."
"Well, hello. Am Liana. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
I said and walked up to the next employee.
"Hello am Vanessa. Am a new employee."
"Who are you supposed to be?"
"The boss' Secretary."
She shrugged and looked away.
'Rude. She must be one of the ring leaders Davon was talking about.'
I thought and walked away.

I walked up to most of the employees and introduced myself. One of them even chased me out of her little office.

I walked into the elevator and got to the 12th floor where my office was located. I walked in and took off my glasses, the top and let my hair loose. I put on my jumper then moments later, I heard a knock at my door.
"Come in."
I spoke.

Seconds later, my CEO, Leon and Alissa walked into my office.
"Scarlett."
"Oh, Davon hi."
I said, walked up to him and we hugged.

Lisa and Leon just stood there staring at us. I look at Lisa and she looked pretty puzzled.
"Alissa. Davon has been my friend ever since college. He is one of the people I trust. That is why he became my CEO. Oh, and he's Cherokee's boyfriend."
"Your younger sister?"
"Yes. The one that calls me Twyla."
"Oh yes Cher."
"That one."
"I see. May I ask now?"
"Sure."
"What was the main issue about you saying hi to the employees and hiding your identity?"
"Well... some people need discipline. So, I had a plan to see the true colors of the employees in my company. And it worked. Now if you'll excuse me... I have people to fire."
"Wait what?"
Davon stopped me.
"You heard me right Davon. I'm going to fire some people. So, get ready for vacancies. About 4 or 5 maybe. Since you guys wanted me to be more interactive with people, am here now. To stay to be precise. Let's see where this goes for you. Leon come with me please."
"Yes ma'am. Right away."

Leon and I walked into the elevator on our way to floor 10. As we walked in everyone just stared at me like they've seen me before.
"Hello everyone. My name is Scarlett Twyla Blackwood."
I paused to see and hear their reactions.
Some started whispering.
"Isn't that the owner of the company?"
I heard them say.

Weirdly enough I heard them clearly though I was like 10 meters away from them.
"I came in here as the Vanessa some of you started ridiculing. So, I believe it's time some of you say goodbye."
I looked at Leon and then back to the employees.
"Pass me the files Lisa."
I took the files from her and flipped them open.
"Liana Valentine?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Meet me in my office later. Alexis, you're fired. Devin, you're fired. Sheela, your fired. Or let me just do this, Rakeem, Dawna, Cherry and Dan. You're fired. Thank you for the experience. If there are any complaints speak now."
"But ma'am you can't do that to us."
Sheela protested.
"Oh really? And who are you to say that to me?"
She goes silent.
I took a deep breath and looked up the file.
"That's what I thought. You know I wasn't planning on firing anyone today. It just came up. Some time back my CEO called for a complaint that some of you don't seem to know your place. And I thought he was joking until I met my employees myself. I thought he was trying to pull my strings but apparently, I was wrong."
I took another deep breath and looked at the people around me this time.
"Well Sheela you should know why I fired you. You're 20, right?"
"You didn't have to say it out loud."
"Yeah whatever. You have no respect for your elders, let alone your coworkers and you are so disrespectful to anyone you meet or anyone you don't know. You can't even take a proper Greeting. You have a problem. You have a short temper, you're pompous and most of all annoying. Cherry, you have no respect for your elders either. You reached the point of chasing me out of your office. What gave you that audacity? Anyways, before I call security to take you out. I advise you to leave my company right away. Do I have myself heard clearly?"
Sheela gave me a bombastic side eye and left.
'Childish human being.'
"Thank you all for paying attention. Liana? Follow me please."
I said as I walked up to the elevator.
I stopped at the elevator door and looked back at my employees.
"Hey you know what? I change my mind. You are all rehired but Sheela and Cherry. Let them be your examples when you'll cross the line and act like you own this place."
I said and walked into the elevator.
As soon as I walked into my office, Liana stood by the door.
"Oh please. Take a seat."
I said and she walked up to my desk and sat.
"You said you wanted to see me ma'am?"
"Well yes."
I said and sat down on my very comfortable chair.
"Liana. Because of the way you treated me today, I figured I need to give you something. So... I want to promote you into my PA."
She looked at me with shock.
"Your PA ma'am?"
"Yes. My PA."
"But am not qualified for that post. Am just an accountant."
"Well... you are the perfect PA. Good with numbers, hardworking, smart and friendly. This means that now you can be part of the process of making the company's big decisions with me and Davon."
She inhaled deeply and looked at me with shock in her eyes.
"Don't be surprised. Since am never here, I thought I needed someone new to help me out to know my company better. Best of all, you'll be part of the leading party. Take it as a big promotion and a break through. So, what do you say?"
I asked, looked at the rest of the people in the room then back to her.
"Obviously yes. Who would turn this offer down?"
"Oh good. I thought I had to be persuasive. As of next week, you'll be in charge of the interviews if... people will come of course."
"Really?"
"Welcome to the big table Liana. You deserve it."
Davon said shaking her hand with a warm smile.
"Thank you, Davon. Means a lot coming from you."
She replied with a beautiful smile plastered on her face.
"Since we have a new member of the big table... what about a party to celebrate? Am sure my allies would enjoy that."
"Of course, that sounds thoughtful."
Davon replied and his phone rang.
"Sorry guys I have to take this. Lisa, can you come with me?"
"Am... sure."
The 2 went out and left Liana, Leon and I alone in the room.

I stared at my phone as the time passed and nothing came up.
"Okay. Am bored. Liana... tell me about yourself."
"What would you like to know ma'am?"
"Some things about your life."
"Like?"
"How old are you?"
"I thought you read my file?"
"Oh no. Darling no. I only read the files of those who I wanted to fire. They were irritating me. So, I was debriefed on those that cause my company problems in turn causing me problems. So yes... talk to me. Age, birthday or anything else about you."
"Well ma'am I am 24 and I was born on the 23rd of April, I am turning 25 soon."
"Alright. It seems I have an age mate as a partner."
"Really ma'am?"
"Oh no I'm joking. I'm turning 28 my dear. Anyways, what month is this?"
I asked as I walked over to my desk.
"It's February ma'am."
Alissa chimed in.
"Oh wow. I have 10 months to go huh? Ouch."
"It's not that big of a deal."
"Lisa it is. 10 months is like 10 years for me."
I said and felt my phone's security notification tone sound.
"And how is that?"
"Just saying. Anyways, I need to be alone. All of you... out."
I said pointing at my office door.
"Yes ma'am."
Lisa said as they walked out like little puppies being chased by their owner.

I sat down, turned on my desk computer and connected my phone to it. I unlocked it and noticed that someone was trying to hack it. I typed for a while and did my best to reinforce my firewall but it seemed the person was as skilled as I was.
