As the karaoke night wound down, the energy in the lounge began to shift. The vibrant music faded into background chatter, and people started to trickle out, satisfied after a night of laughter and singing. Jungwon leaned back against the plush couch, feeling the warmth of camaraderie but also the underlying tension that lingered.

Heeseung had been unusually quiet since their duet, and Jungwon couldn't shake the feeling that something was weighing on him. He glanced over to find Heeseung leaning against the wall, his expression thoughtful as he watched everyone.

"Hey, you good?" Jungwon called out, rising from his seat.

Heeseung looked up, a flicker of surprise crossing his face. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... thinking."

"About what?" Jungwon asked, curiosity piqued. He approached, leaving Sunoo and Taehyun to chat nearby.

"Just the night, I guess. It's been fun," Heeseung replied, but his tone lacked its usual energy.

Jungwon noticed the shift and felt a pang of concern. "You seem a little off. Is everything okay?"

Taking a deep breath, Heeseung pushed himself away from the wall, his gaze locking onto Jungwon's. "Actually, there's something I need to say. I've been wanting to talk to you about this for a while."

Jungwon felt his heart race, unsure of what to expect. "Okay... what's on your mind?"

Heeseung hesitated for a moment, the weight of his thoughts evident. "I don't really know how to say this without sounding ridiculous, but I've developed feelings for you, Jungwon."

Jungwon's breath caught in his throat. "Feelings? Like... romantic feelings?"

"Yeah," Heeseung replied, his voice steady but his eyes revealing a storm of emotion. "I know it's complicated, especially with Taehyun around, but I can't ignore how I feel anymore. You're kind, hardworking, and... you make me feel something I haven't felt in a long time."

Jungwon stood frozen, processing the revelation. "Heeseung hyung, I—"

"Wait, let me finish," Heeseung interrupted, his expression earnest. "I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to jeopardize our friendship, but I care about you. A lot. More than I probably should."

The sincerity in Heeseung's voice hit Jungwon like a wave, but confusion mixed with disbelief swirled in his mind. "I... I don't know what to say."

Heeseung's shoulders tensed, and he looked away, the vulnerability in his gaze shifting to uncertainty. "You don't have to say anything right now. I just needed you to know. I'll understand if you don't feel the same way."

Jungwon felt a rush of emotions—excitement, fear, and a strange longing. "It's not that I don't appreciate what you're saying. It's just... I've been so focused on work and everything else. I didn't realize you felt that way."

"Do you want me to back off?" Heeseung asked, his voice tight, the bravado he usually held onto slipping away. "I don't want to put pressure on you. I just had to be honest."

Jungwon hesitated, his heart pounding. "I think... I think I need some time to figure things out. This is all so new to me."

"Of course," Heeseung said, his tone softer. "Take your time. I'll be here, no matter what you decide."

They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the confession hanging between them. Jungwon felt a flutter of hope mixed with anxiety, unsure of where this would lead.

"Let's just enjoy tonight for now," Jungwon suggested, trying to lighten the mood. "I think everyone else is still having a good time."

"Right," Heeseung agreed, though his expression still held a hint of vulnerability. "Let's rejoin the others."

As they walked back toward Sunoo and Taehyun, Jungwon felt a mix of apprehension and excitement. The night had taken a turn he hadn't anticipated, and he knew he would need to navigate this newfound territory carefully.

But for the first time, he also felt a spark of possibility, wondering what could come next as they moved forward together.
