The next few days passed in a blur for Jungwon. Each morning, he would wake up with the weight of his decision pressing on him. Heeseung and Taehyun were both wonderful in their own ways, but the choice between them felt like an impossible puzzle.
As the week progressed, Taehyun's invitations became more frequent, and he seemed determined to carve out time with Jungwon. Meanwhile, Heeseung was ever-present at work, offering support and encouragement, but Jungwon could sense the tension simmering beneath the surface.
One afternoon, after a long meeting, Jungwon found himself alone in the break room, pouring a cup of coffee. Sunoo joined him, leaning against the counter with a knowing smile.
"You look deep in thought," Sunoo observed, his tone light yet probing.
"I'm just trying to figure things out," Jungwon admitted, stirring sugar into his coffee. "With Heeseung hyung and Taehyun hyung... it's all so confusing."
Sunoo nodded, a serious look crossing his face. "You need to be honest with yourself. What do you really want?"
I wish I knew," Jungwon sighed. "Heeseung hyung makes me feel safe, but Taehyun hyung is fun and charismatic. It's like I'm torn between comfort and excitement."
"Maybe it's not about choosing between them," Sunoo suggested. "Maybe it's about how you feel when you're with each of them. What's your gut telling you?"
Jungwon pondered this, feeling a flicker of clarity amidst the confusion. "I care about both of them, but... there's something different about how I feel when I'm with Heeseung hyung. I just haven't let myself acknowledge it."
"Then maybe it's time to be honest with yourself—and with them," Sunoo encouraged. "You don't have to rush, but don't ignore your feelings either."
Feeling a mix of gratitude and apprehension, Jungwon nodded. "Thanks, Sunoo hyung. I'll think about it."
Later that day, as Jungwon sat at his desk, he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. He turned to find Heeseung standing there, a slightly nervous expression on his face.
"Hey, do you have a minute?" Heeseung asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Sure, what's up?" Jungwon replied, heart pounding.
"I was thinking we could grab dinner tonight—just the two of us. Maybe we can talk more?" Heeseung suggested, his tone earnest.
Jungwon felt his stomach twist. "Um, I actually have plans with Taehyun hyung tonight..."
Heeseung's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly masked it. "Right. No problem. Just thought I'd ask."
"Maybe another time?" Jungwon added, trying to soften the blow.
"Yeah, of course," Heeseung replied, but his voice had lost its usual warmth.
As Heeseung walked away, Jungwon felt a pang of guilt. He couldn't deny that part of him wanted to go to dinner with Heeseung. Yet the idea of canceling on Taehyun felt equally uncomfortable.
That evening, as Jungwon prepared to meet Taehyun, he tried to quell the gnawing sense of doubt. They met at a trendy restaurant, and Taehyun greeted him with a bright smile.
"Glad you could make it! I've been looking forward to this," Taehyun said, guiding Jungwon to a table by the window.
"Me too," Jungwon replied, attempting to sound enthusiastic. As they settled in, the conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and shared stories. But no matter how hard he tried to immerse himself in the moment, Jungwon couldn't shake the thought of Heeseung from the back of his mind.
"So, what do you think about collaborating on that project? I really think we could make a great team," Taehyun suggested, leaning in with excitement.
"Yeah, I think we could," Jungwon said, nodding. But as he watched Taehyun animatedly discuss their ideas, Jungwon felt a sense of disconnect. He admired Taehyun, but his thoughts kept drifting back to Heeseung—the way they connected, the unspoken bond they shared.
Later, as they finished dessert, Taehyun leaned back, studying Jungwon with a curious expression. "You seem a bit distracted tonight. Everything okay?"
"Just a lot on my mind, I guess," Jungwon admitted, feeling the weight of honesty pressing down on him.
"Is it about work? Or..." Taehyun's voice trailed off, and Jungwon felt the tension in the air shift.
"It's complicated," Jungwon said, choosing his words carefully. "I'm just trying to figure things out."
Taehyun nodded, understanding evident in his gaze. "I get it. Just know that I'm here if you want to talk."
As they left the restaurant, Jungwon felt a wave of uncertainty wash over him. He appreciated Taehyun's support, but something deep down told him he wasn't being fair to either of them by dragging this out.
That night, as he lay in bed, Jungwon finally allowed himself to think about Heeseung more openly. The way Heeseung made him feel—safe, understood, and comfortable—was something he hadn't experienced before. It felt like home.
With a surge of determination, Jungwon decided it was time to confront his feelings. He couldn't ignore what he truly wanted any longer.
The next day, as he arrived at the office, Jungwon's heart raced. He found Heeseung in his office, reviewing some documents. Jungwon took a deep breath and walked in.
"Hyung," he began, his voice steady. "Can we talk?"
Heeseung looked up, surprise flickering in his eyes. "Of course. What's on your mind?"
"I've been thinking about what you said the other night," Jungwon started, his pulse quickening. "And I want to be honest with you. I feel something for you, too."
Heeseung's expression shifted from surprise to a hopeful smile. "Really?"
"Yes. It's all new to me, but I can't ignore it anymore," Jungwon admitted, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "I want to explore this—whatever this is—between us."
The joy that spread across Heeseung's face was infectious. "I'd like that, Jungwon. A lot."
As they stood there, a newfound connection blooming between them, Jungwon realized that he was ready to embrace whatever lay ahead. The path might still be uncertain, but he knew he wouldn't have to navigate it alone.
