The day of the karaoke night arrived, buzzing with anticipation. Sunoo had taken charge of the plans, sending out a group message to everyone, including Heeseung and Taehyun. Jungwon felt a mix of excitement and anxiety as he prepared for the evening.

As he entered the karaoke lounge, the atmosphere was lively, filled with laughter and music. Sunoo was already there, setting up the room, while Heeseung stood by the bar, scanning the crowd.

"Hey, Jungwon!" Sunoo called out, waving him over. "You made it! Grab a drink and get ready to unleash your inner star!"

Jungwon smiled, feeling the warmth of Sunoo's enthusiasm. "I'm not sure I have an inner star, but I'll try my best!"

As the group slowly gathered, Taehyun arrived with a wide smile, holding a bouquet of colorful balloons. "Surprise! I thought this could add some flair to our night!"

Jungwon felt a flutter of confusion. "You didn't have to bring those!"

"It's all in good fun," Taehyun said, winking. "Let's make tonight memorable!"

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere grew increasingly festive. People sang their hearts out, and laughter echoed off the walls. Jungwon watched from the sidelines, feeling a mix of admiration and pressure as his friends performed.

Finally, Sunoo grabbed the microphone and called out, "Okay, it's time for Jungwon to show us what he's got!"

"What? No way!" Jungwon exclaimed, feeling his face heat up.

"Come on! You can't hide forever!" Sunoo prodded, handing him the mic.

Before he could protest further, Heeseung stepped in. "I'll sing with him," he said, his tone confident. "Let's make it a duet."

Jungwon's stomach flipped. "Uh, really? I'm not sure..."

"Just trust me," Heeseung said, his expression serious yet encouraging.

With some prodding from the group, Jungwon found himself on stage next to Heeseung, the spotlight suddenly blinding. As the music started, Jungwon's nerves kicked in, but Heeseung stood beside him, exuding a calm energy.

They began singing a popular duet, and to Jungwon's surprise, he found himself getting into it. Heeseung's voice complemented his perfectly, and the two of them fell into an easy rhythm. The crowd cheered, and Jungwon felt a rush of exhilaration.

As they finished, applause erupted. Heeseung leaned in, a satisfied grin on his face. "See? Not so bad, right?"

"Yeah, that was fun!" Jungwon replied, breathless. He glanced around, spotting Taehyun, who was clapping but wore a tight smile.

"Great job, you two!" Taehyun said, but his eyes held a hint of something deeper—maybe jealousy?

As the night continued, Taehyun approached Jungwon again, pulling him aside. "Hey, can we talk for a second?"

"Sure," Jungwon replied, a bit wary. "What's up?"

"I just wanted to say, you did an amazing job up there," Taehyun said, leaning closer. "I knew you had it in you."

"Thanks! I didn't think I would enjoy it so much," Jungwon admitted, feeling flattered.

"Do you want to grab some fresh air?" Taehyun suggested, glancing towards the door. "I could use a break from the noise."

Jungwon hesitated, glancing back at the others. Heeseung caught his eye and raised an eyebrow, a hint of protectiveness in his stance. Jungwon's heart raced. "Um, maybe in a bit? I don't want to leave everyone hanging."

"Alright, but don't take too long," Taehyun said, his smile still in place, but Jungwon noticed a flicker of impatience in his eyes.

As Taehyun walked back toward the main group, Jungwon felt a tug of conflict. He turned to find Sunoo nearby, who had been watching the exchange.

"Everything okay?" Sunoo asked, concern etched on his face.

"Yeah, just a little chat," Jungwon replied, not wanting to divulge too much.

Sunoo raised an eyebrow. "Taehyun seems really interested in you. Are you sure you want to keep him at arm's length?"

"I mean, he's nice," Jungwon said, still oblivious. "But I'm just here to have fun with everyone. That's all that matters, right?"

As the night wore on, Jungwon continued to enjoy himself, completely unaware of the deeper currents running around him. The karaoke had turned into a whirlwind of laughter and friendly banter, but within that, Heeseung watched every interaction closely, his expression a mix of irritation and something more complex.

As the clock ticked closer to midnight, Jungwon knew he would eventually have to confront the tangled web of feelings. But for now, he was content to bask in the camaraderie, blissfully unaware of how much was at stake.
