HAYEON HAD NEVER LIKED ANY OF CHAEWON'S BOYFRIENDS. She thought they were too bland for Chaewon.
Now, although this might've not been the case every single time, the boys always ended up breaking things off with the girl because of her best friend.
She never exactly seemed angry, just a little annoyed at the boys for blaming the break up on her best friend.
The reason why they blamed it on Hayeon was because she was so obviously all over Chaewon. Every chance she got, she would either hold her hand or plant a kiss on her cheek.
Anyone who knew the two girls could see that they were very comfortable eith each other. So much to the point that any one of Chaewon's boyfriends would become fed up with it and leave.
Hayeon believed that if they broke things off with her because of such a stupid reason, he never deserved her in the first place. Not that she believed any boy ever did deserve her to begin with, though.
It was lunch time on a Tuesday afternoon and Chaewon hurried over to the table were she and her friends usually sat. "Guys!" She sat down and placed her lunch on the table.
Yeonji looked up with her mouth full of bread, "Hm?" She swallowed, "What's got you all excited?"
"Probably another boy." Soomin shrugged and nudged her best friend in the shoulder. Yeonji laughed.
However, from across the table, beside Chaewon, Hayeon sat with a straight face, continuing to eat her food.
Chaewon nodded with a smile, "Yeah, his name is Hyoseok. He's so cute and smart and-" She continued to gush about the boy and Hayeon tuned her out.
Smart. Yeah, you're not very smart. Hayeon thought as she fought the urge to roll her eyes.
Just as Chaewon's rambling stopped, a fight broke out across the cafeteria. The four girls stood from their table and discarded it, hurriedly heading towards the huge crowd forming around two boys.
Chaewon's eyes widened and she froze. She was unsure of what to do. Since she was in the midst of a crowd, she figured there wasn't much she could do about it.
She leaned closer, towards her best friend and spoke quietly into her ear, "That's him. With the grey jumper."
Hayeon glanced over at Chaewon's face and her heart felt like it was burning. Her least favourite thing in the world was seeing Chaewon upset.
Hayeon knew that Chaewon could fight, since they both had been attending to her father's dojo for years, but would never use her skills against anyone for real.
In cases like these, Hayeon was the opposite. In just a few seconds, Hayeon made her way through the crowd and into the circle of the chaos.
She quickly made her way towards the boy that was on top of Hyoseok and gripped his shirt with her hands. She picked him up from the floor and pinned him against the nearest wall.
He struggled against the force and attempted to punch Hayeon in the face, so she kneed him in the stomach. The boy groaned and hunched over. Hayeon then gripped his wrists and held them behind his back, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Hey! What's going on here?!" A teacher yelled, pushing past students and into the crowd. The man, Mr Jang, grabbed the boy by the arm, aswell as Hayeon, and looked at Hyoseok who sat, stunned, on the cafeteria floor.
"You. Come with me." He demanded, pushing past people once again, but with two students dragging behind him this time.
Hyoseok followed as the group of four headed towards the teacher's office. Mr Jang loosened his grip from his students and they stumbled into his office.
He raised his voice, "Do you think this is acceptable behaviour?!" He asked, "Huh?!"
The three students looked down slightly and shook their heads. "No, sir." Hayeon mumbled.
"No, i didn't think so." The man said sharply as he sighed. "Hayeon, i didn't expect this from you. Not so much Jungsoo, but you, Hayeon, and you, Hyoseok..."
He tutted, "This is very disappointing." He walked around his office and ended up at his desk. "I'm afraid i'll have to speak to your parents."
Hayeon sighed and brought a hand to her face. Shit. I shouldn't have gotten involved. Stupid! Stupid! Stulid!
Hyoseok stood there and sniffled quietly, wiping under his eyes with his hands. No one mentioned it, but Hayeon could see and hear Jungsoo snickering.
She wanted to kick him in the shins and tell him to kindly shut the fuck up, but she knew that it would only add more fuel to Mr Jang's fire.
However, she wasn't too bothered about him contacting her parents, because they didn't care enough to punish her.
They were usually preoccupied with work and didn't pay any attention to their daughter. They didn't care about what Hayeon did or who she beat up.
In a way, this was a good thing for the girl, because this meant that she could do anything she liked. But, it also made her feel a little upset at times. She never complained about it, though.
When the three students were given another rant from Mr Jang, they were let off with an email home and a warning.
Hyoseok sprinted off down the corridor and past his girlfriend, who waited by the door of Mr Jang's office.
Chaewon watched with a blank expression and then turned her head towards Hayeon. She walked up to her and pushed her by the shoulders, "What the hell, Hayeon?!" She yelled, her face filled with anger.
Hayeon's eyes widened and she blinked, stumbling slightly from the nudge. Chaewon continued, "You could've gotten hurt! And in some serious trouble!"
"Well, i didn't, did i?" Hayeon replied, placing her hand on top of Chaewon's, that was just pointing at her right up in her face. Her thumb paced back and forth slowly against the top of her hand.
Chaewon's eyes softened and she frowned, "That's not the point, you idiot. You shouldn't have gotten involved."
Hayeon looked away for a moment, "I know that, okay? I- I just saw the look on your face and i just-" She sighed and shook her head, "Ugh, it doesn't matter. It's done now. Nothing we can do about it." She said quietly.
She looked up at Chaewon, who stood in silence, "It seems that your boyfriend is a little more shaken up than i am, though." She mentioned, pursing her lips.
"Oh." Chaewon let go of Hayeon's hand and rubbed the back of her neck, "Right. Um, i'll speak to you later, then, Hayeon-ah... Bye." She said as she begun walking away.
Hayeon simply waved and watched her walk away and into a search for her boyfriend.
