Cole was off the radar all week. He was gone early Monday morning to the hospital, then stayed over till Tuesday. He was home in the day but was out again in the evening. We seemed to be missing each other this week. Not like I needed to see him or anything. It was just funny that our schedules didn't overlap once this week.
It was Friday again. I was sitting outside, during my lunch break, getting some sunlight. I was sitting on a ledge, but my feet could almost touch the ground. I was just swinging my legs, looking at the clouds.
"Boo!" I heard someone say, while holding my shoulders from the back. I jumped off the ledge with a shriek. I saw him laughing.
"Cole Angelo." I said, holding my chest.
"I GOT MY VOICE BACK." He said in a low pitch with an evil laugh. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Isn't that nice?" I said.
"Really nice. Don't think I forgot about last week SYD-NEY." He said and I pursed my lips but acted tough and laughed.
"So, what brings you all the way to this side of the city?" I asked, finding it weird to see him where I worked.
"What do you mean? I came all the way here to tell you I got my voice back." He said.
"Really?" I asked, surprised.
"Yeah, where have you been all week? I feel like I haven't seen you all week." he said.
I laughed, " I was at home between the hours of 6pm to 6am as always. Where were you?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.
"Working and studying... What judgmental face was that? Where did you think I was?" He asked, probably knowing what I was insinuating but trying to put me on the spot.
I shrugged, "I don't know. That's why I asked." I said.
"Different girl... every night... of course." He said, with a laugh. With his looks, it could be possible, but I knew he was being sarcastic because he was playing along with my insinuations.
"Oh really... Anna-Marie might get a grandkid soon." I hit back.
He laughed and coughed because of my comment, "Okay, you win. I'm not going further with this one...I'm actually here for James. We're going out for lunch. Do you wanna join us?" He asked.
I laughed, "Nah, my lunch break is almost up." I said. Imagine, lunch with two guys. My parents would kill me.
"Your boss is literally coming with us." He said and I laughed and shook my head as we walked inside.
I went to sit by my desk, which was outside James' office and Cole was waiting for him, standing infront, leaning on my counter.
"Angelo, nice to see you here." She said, brushing her fingers gently across his shoulder, across his back and towards his other shoulder, coming to his side. Her nails were always well manicured and today she had emerald green nail polish. She was an Attorney here, and basically a 'boss babe' but could accentuate her feminine qualities, to manipulate men in getting what she wants. I guess another way of making her a 'boss babe'. Make a man feel needed by acting like a 'damsel in distress'.
"Hi Lindsay..." Cole said.
"When are you asking me out for coffee? I'm still waiting." She said in a flirty, sort of whiny voice. Was it meant to be seductive? I wasn't sure.
