"I don't get why you are so worked up about this Yandi, that man constantly brings you stress, and you speak of wanting him out of your life, yet you want to jump in and save him? What the hell did he feel you?" She looked at her brother who was pacing around. Cebo had been tending to Sandile's wounds while Naledi cleaned around the house. The party quickly ended once the Royal couple left. "You won't get it Bhuti. At the end of the day, he is the father of my child. You can't just beat him up." Sandile laughed out loud and shook his head. "Khuluma Rambo. (Speak Rambo.)"
The look he gave Yandisokuhle made her take her words back. "I will let that slide because I can see you're mad. What I don't understand is why you're mad at us." It was her turn to laugh humorlessly. "You wouldn't get it." She slouched on the couch and wiped her eyes. "You can't be serious Yandisokuhle. Uyakhala? (You're crying?)" She remained silent and wiped her eyes. "I could care less about what happens to Ntando, but Zama is pregnant. I know how challenging pregnancy is Bhuti. Much more, if you're pregnant ngengane ka Ntando. You brutally beating her husband up isn't helping her already hectic pregnancy."
No one spoke for a bit. "I guess I didn't see it like that." She scoffed. "How could you when you're busy acting like a macho man." She stood up and grabbed the plate that was on the table and took it to the kitchen. She placed it in the sink and grabbed a clean plate, filled it with meat and some buns, grabbed a bottle of sweet red wine and then walked upstairs. "I trust that one of you will ensure that my child is safe. I need to sleep." She didn't stop to hear what they had to say.
She placed the food on the bed and began munching as the tears rolled down her face. 'This man has too much power in my life.' She found herself thinking one too many things. One of the symptoms of the Ntando effect. She had been a victim to this disease and unlike many others, she couldn't just walk away. Only distance is what could work. She drank straight from the bottle and settled in bed once she had finished it. She could feel her body buzzing as she took deep breaths.
When she woke up. the sun had already set, and her head was aching. She stretched her arms up above her head and then got out of bed to go to the bathroom. The house smelled fresh. She walked down the stairs to the living room where her brothers and Arabang were chilling, watching TV. "What have I just walked into?" Melokuhle jumped up at the sound of her mother's voice. "Hi mama!" Her little voice squealed in delight. Yandisokuhle walked around the couch to pick her daughter up. "Hello my little love!" She kissed her face and listened to the wonderful sounds that came out of her daughter's mouth.
"Have you eaten baby?" Melokuhle nodded enthusiastically. "Good!" She walked to the kitchen and was more surprised to find Naledi and Cebolenkosi sipping juice or whatever it is that they were sipping on. "Okay. I am not going to ask. Please hand me a cup from up there." She placed Melokuhle on the countertop and pulled the sugar closer. "Mama, swikili. (sugar.)" Yandisokuhle nodded and smiled. "Yes, sugar my love. Uyafuna ukuphuza noMa wakho? (Do you want to drink with your mother?)" Melokuhle nodded with a wide smile on her face. Silently, she made a cup of Milo while paying attention to her daughter, the two older women forgotten as she engaged with her child.
Melokuhle is a beautiful baby. Blessed with her mother's smile and attitude, she would grow up to be a wonderful person. Besides how awesome she was going to be, her eyes catch anyone's attention. The left eye was blue and the right eye a pitch blank, just like her father. That's how one would identify her as Prince Ntando Majola's child. Yandisokuhle did not dwell much on that, it was just a sore topic that she refused to partake in in the presence of her child. Since Ntando showed no interest in being a father to her daughter, she decided she would be both a mother and a father to her child.
"Okay, come on then, let's go sit down." She had the hot beverage in one hand and Melokuhle's in her other. They sat on the couch that allowed them to face the TV directly. "Now that we are here, lets watch something fun." She grabbed the remote and tuned to netflix. "Ah Yandisokuhle come on man!" Both Yandi and Melo laughed at Sandile's protest. "Bhuti be a good host and let your guests watch what they want to." Sandile rolled his eyes and stuffed his face full of popcorn.
