✨ A Taste of Something New✨
The rumble of Jungkook's motorcycle filled the air as they zoomed through the streets. Riyanshi held on tightly, her heart racing—not from the speed, but from the unfamiliar closeness. She was still trying to wrap her head around the day’s events. The football match, the fight, Jungkook’s unexpected calm, and now... dinner?
They pulled up to a small, cozy Korean café, its warm lights contrasting with the cool evening breeze. Jungkook parked the motorcycle and helped Riyanshi off, smirking at the way she straightened herself, slightly disoriented from the ride.
"You okay?" he teased.
"I’m fine," she replied, slightly flustered but trying to play it cool.
Inside, the atmosphere was relaxed, with soft music playing in the background. Jungkook ordered a variety of traditional dishes, excited to introduce Riyanshi to some authentic Korean food. She eyed the dishes curiously as they arrived—plates filled with kimchi, tteokbokki, bulgogi, and bibimbap.
"Here, try this first," Jungkook said, passing her the tteokbokki—spicy rice cakes with a fiery red sauce.
Riyanshi hesitated before taking a bite, her eyes widening at the intense flavor. "It’s so spicy!" she exclaimed, reaching for water immediately.
Jungkook laughed, clearly enjoying her reaction. "You’ll get used to it. Here, try some bulgogi—it’s less spicy."
They ate in comfortable silence, with Jungkook pointing out different dishes and explaining their significance. Riyanshi slowly warmed up to the flavors, though she still approached some of the spicier ones cautiously. After a while, they ordered ice cream to cool off, a welcome relief from the heat of the food.
"Can I call you Riya?" Jungkook asked suddenly, his voice casual but his eyes watching her closely.
Riyanshi frowned, shaking her head. "No. Just stick with Riyanshi."
Jungkook grinned, undeterred. "You sure? It suits you."
"I’m sure," she replied, narrowing her eyes but unable to stop the small smile creeping onto her face.
They fell into a deeper conversation after that, talking about life, their pasts, and things they wouldn’t normally share. Riyanshi found herself opening up more than she expected, learning that Jungkook had a lot of layers beneath his tough exterior.
"Why do you act like you don’t care about anything?" she asked, genuinely curious.
Jungkook shrugged, leaning back in his seat. "It’s easier that way. When you act like you don’t care, people stop expecting things from you. Less pressure."
Riyanshi frowned. "But doesn’t that get... lonely?"
Jungkook glanced at her, something shifting in his expression. "Yeah. Sometimes."
The vulnerability in his voice caught her off guard. Before she could say anything more, Jungkook smiled, pushing away his empty bowl. "Enough about me. You’re the mysterious one here. What’s your story, Miss Riyanshi?"
She rolled her eyes, but the question had her reflecting for a moment. "There’s not much to tell. I’m just here to study, make my family proud... nothing exciting like your world."
Jungkook scoffed. "Everyone has something. You’re just too modest to admit it."
Their conversation continued, ebbing and flowing between lighthearted teasing and more serious topics. Riyanshi found herself enjoying the night more than she anticipated. As they finished up, the café was starting to close, and they decided to head out.
Jungkook glanced at his watch. "It’s late. Let’s get you home."
They hopped back onto the motorcycle, and Jungkook sped off, the cool night air rushing past them. Riyanshi leaned in slightly, trying to speak over the wind.
"Don’t go too fast!" she yelled, her voice barely audible.
Jungkook chuckled, leaning back just enough to tease her. "Worried about me?"
Riyanshi scoffed. "No, just don’t want to get into an accident, that’s all."
They pulled up outside her house, and Riyanshi dismounted, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within her. Jungkook stayed seated on the bike, watching her with an unreadable expression.
"Thanks for tonight," she said, meeting his gaze. "I had fun."
Jungkook smirked, a soft glint in his eyes. "So, we’re doing this again?"
Riyanshi raised an eyebrow. "We’ll see."
Just as she turned to head inside, Jungkook’s voice stopped her. "Hey, Riyanshi?"
She turned back, waiting.
"Next time... I’m calling you Riya," he teased, revving the bike before speeding off into the night, leaving Riyanshi standing there, shaking her head but smiling to herself.
