✨heart fluttering holiday ✨
As the train slowed to a halt, the rhythmic clatter of the wheels against the tracks gave way to the excited chatter of passengers disembarking. Riya felt a flutter of anticipation in her stomach as she stepped onto the platform, the crisp winter air greeting them. Jungkook walked beside her, his hand brushing against hers, sending warmth through her despite the cold.
“Welcome to my grandparents’ place,” Jungkook said, gesturing to the quaint surroundings. The rustic charm of the countryside was enchanting, with snow-dusted rooftops and twinkling lights adorning the nearby houses. Riya couldn’t help but smile, feeling a sense of adventure in this new setting.
Jungkook led her to his grandparents' home, where the scent of freshly baked cookies wafted through the air, inviting and comforting. As they entered, they were greeted by Jungkook’s grandmother, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her grandson.
“Jungkook! You’re here!” she exclaimed, enveloping him in a warm embrace. Riya stood by, watching the tender moment unfold, her heart swelling with warmth. Jungkook’s grandmother turned her attention to Riya, her gaze curious and kind.
“And who is this lovely girl?” she asked, a smile breaking across her face.
“This is Riya, my friend from school,” Jungkook introduced, a hint of pride in his voice. Riya felt herself blush under the grandmother’s gaze.
“It’s wonderful to meet you, dear! Come in, come in! I just baked some cookies. You’ll love them!” His grandmother ushered them inside, and Riya felt instantly at home in the cozy living room adorned with family photos and decorations.
They settled on the sofa, and Riya took a moment to admire the room. Jungkook’s grandmother soon returned with a plate of warm cookies, steam rising from them. “Here you go! I made your favorite, Jungkook!” she said, handing him a cookie.
Riya watched as Jungkook took a bite, his eyes lighting up with joy. “These are the best, Grandma! Thank you!” he said, and Riya couldn’t help but smile at the genuine happiness in his expression.
As they enjoyed the cookies, Jungkook’s grandmother started sharing stories about their family, weaving tales of traditions and memories. Riya listened intently, feeling more connected to Jungkook through these stories.
After the warmth of family, the afternoon sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the room. Jungkook turned to Riya, a playful grin on his face. “How about we explore the village later? There are some amazing places I want to show you.”
“Sure! I’d love that!” Riya replied, her heart racing at the thought of spending more time with him.
Once the sun dipped below the horizon, they bundled up and stepped outside, the chilly air invigorating them. Jungkook led the way, his footsteps crunching on the fresh layer of snow. Riya tried to keep up with his lively pace, laughing as she stumbled over the uneven surface.
“This way!” Jungkook called, pointing to a small market square illuminated by fairy lights. Riya felt her eyes widen in awe at the vibrant atmosphere. Stalls lined the square, showcasing handmade crafts and delicious snacks.
They wandered from stall to stall, sampling street food and sharing their thoughts on the various crafts. Riya marveled at the creativity of the local artisans, her heart swelling with admiration for the community around her. Jungkook occasionally teased her, playfully nudging her when she expressed too much excitement over a particular item.
“Look at this!” Riya exclaimed, picking up a beautifully crafted ornament. “It’s stunning! I want to take it home.”
“Then get it! I’ll buy it for you,” Jungkook replied, his tone light but sincere. Riya shook her head, not wanting him to spend his money on her.
“Jungkook, that’s not necessary,” she insisted, but he simply smiled.
“It’s fine. Consider it a holiday gift,” he said, his eyes glinting with mischief. Riya felt her cheeks flush as she accepted the ornament, grateful yet shy.
As they continued exploring, they stumbled upon a small booth selling hot chocolate. The inviting aroma wafted toward them, and Riya’s mouth watered. “Can we get some?” she asked eagerly.
“Absolutely!” Jungkook agreed, his eyes sparkling. They ordered two cups, and as they waited, Riya felt the warmth of his presence beside her. She glanced up, catching his gaze, and for a brief moment, the world around them faded away.
“Thanks for bringing me here,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jungkook turned serious for a moment, his eyes searching hers. “I’m glad you’re here, Riya. I like spending time with you.” The sincerity in his words made her heart race, but before she could respond, their drinks were ready.
They took their cups, the warmth radiating through their fingers, and found a quiet spot near a small stage set up for local performances. As they sipped their hot chocolate, Riya couldn’t help but steal glances at Jungkook. The way the light danced in his eyes made her pulse quicken, but she knew they hadn’t confessed their feelings yet.
“Do you think we’ll ever end up working together?” Riya asked, attempting to steer the conversation back to safer territory.
“Of course! If you’re under my guidance, I’ll make sure you learn everything about Cosmetic Chemistry,” Jungkook said, a confident smile on his face.
“I’d like that,” Riya replied, imagining the days spent working side by side with him.
The evening wore on, filled with laughter and shared dreams, but as they walked back to Jungkook’s grandparents’ home, Riya felt the weight of unspoken feelings lingering between them. They both knew there was something deeper, but for now, the warmth of friendship and the excitement of their futures ahead were enough.
As they entered the house, Riya felt a sense of belonging that she hadn’t expected. Maybe the winter break wouldn’t be so lonely after all.
