"We're leaving? Are you sure? They said we could go?" Delta looked up at Nightshade.
"Yeah." The yeah was easier, but the lie made Nightshade grit her teeth. "They said we could carry on to the palace."
"Oh! That's great!" Delta gave Nightshade a huge smile. How could I have ever thought I would kill this adorable little MudWing?
"Yeah, Clam's taking us out." As the words left Nightshade's mouth, there was a knock on the cell door. "Quick, wake the SandWings." Delta woke up the three confused SandWings, and Clam held the door open.
Their voices a whisper, Clam and Nightshade took the lead to walk down the corridors together, Delta and the SandWings trailing behind.
Clam asked Nightshade, "You're sure that your plan will work?"
"Yes," she replied, "I've encountered scenarios like this in my training. This will work."
"Alright..." They shrugged.
"Just... everyone be quiet." Nightshade announced to the group.
"But why do we have to be quiet?" Delta whined. Nightshade shot her a look, and lied through her teeth.
"Some of the guards are sleeping."
The clink of talons on the stone seemed to to echo for countless minutes, but finally Nightshade saw a light.
The ragtag group got to the end of the corridor, a simple iron gate blocking the path forward. "Shoot, how are we going to get past?" Delta asked.
Clam checked their pouches. "Oh no, I forgot the key. I can't get back now... we only have a five minute timeframe."
The three SandWings nodded to each other. Lion stepped forward.
"Formation!" The SandWings lined up, and Lion counted down. On zero, a ball of flame burst from each dragon's mouth, and melted the gate to a crisp.
The SandWings went first, and with a nod to the others, flew off.
Nightshade looked at Clam.
"Thank you... for all you've done. Good luck."
Clam nodded, tears in their eyes. "Thank you too. Find your siblings, and return home safe to wherever you come from..." And off Clam flew.
"Well... It's just me and you now Delta." Nightshade took Delta's talons in her talons. "You ready to go?"
"Yes." A small nod accompanied the word. "Let's go."
Wings beating against the ground, the unlikely combination of Mud and Rain flew into the darkness.

Armageddon watched from the shadows.
"Perfect," he whispered. "Absolutely perfect...."
