After a lengthy discussion, Felix's father cleared his throat, his expression turning serious. "Felix, I would like to speak with you privately for a moment. Hyunjin, would you mind stepping out?"
Both Felix and Hyunjin exchanged nervous glances. Felix could see the apprehension in Hyunjin's eyes, a reflection of his own unease. "It's fine," Felix assured him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "I'll be right back."
Hyunjin nodded, though his worry was still palpable as he left the room. Felix followed his father down the grand hallway to his office, the weight of the moment settling heavily on his shoulders.
Once inside, his father motioned for him to take a seat at the large desk. Felix sat down, feeling the intensity of his father's gaze as he took the chair opposite him. The king's demeanor shifted to that of a concerned parent, and Felix appreciated the seriousness with which he approached the situation.
"Felix," his father began, his voice firm but gentle. "I need you to explain how this all happened."
Felix took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Well, it started at a party a few months ago," he began, feeling the weight of his words. "Hyunjin and I... we got closer than we ever had before. It was a moment of vulnerability, and I didn't think it would lead to this."
As he spoke, he recounted the events leading up to the revelation, the confusion, and the fear they both felt. He described the discovery of Hyunjin's pregnancy, the emotions that had surfaced, and the uncertainty that followed.
When he finished, his father sat back, his expression contemplative. "I see," he said, nodding slowly. "This is indeed a complex situation."
Felix took a moment to gather his courage. "Dad, I also wanted to ask if you could replace Hyunjin as my bodyguard. It's nothing against him, but I think it would be best for both of us if he stepped down from that role."
His father raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Why do you want to do that? Hyunjin has been your protector and friend for so long."
"I know," Felix replied, his voice steady. "But this changes everything. I don't want our personal lives to interfere with his duty to protect me. It could put both of us in a difficult position, especially with the royal responsibilities I have."
The king considered Felix's request, his expression softening. "I understand your concern, but it is important to think this through. Hyunjin has been loyal and dedicated to you. Wouldn't it be better to talk with him about this rather than making a decision on your own?"
Felix sighed, feeling the weight of his father's words. "I just think it would be less complicated if we had some distance between our roles. It's hard enough navigating this situation without the added pressure of him being my bodyguard."
His father nodded thoughtfully, recognizing the gravity of the request. "I will respect your decision, but I encourage you to speak with Hyunjin before any final choices are made. Remember, open communication is key, especially now."
Felix felt a mix of relief and apprehension. "Thank you, dad. I appreciate your understanding."
As they concluded their conversation, Felix knew he had to approach Hyunjin with this request. It wouldn't be easy, but he felt it was necessary for both of them to find a way forward that respected their friendship while addressing the complexities of their new reality.
Hyunjin sat on the edge of his bed, his heart racing with uncertainty. The walls of his room felt closer than ever, the silence heavy with the thoughts swirling in his mind. He replayed the earlier conversation in his head, anxiety gnawing at him. What would Felix's parents think? How would they react to everything?
