Moriko's P. O. V:

I scream as crimson blood splatters the walls of my living room as the demon digs his claws into my mother's chest, killing her like he did my father just minutes ago.

I unsheathe my nichirin katana, which is the colours of the five elements—blue, red, green, white and silver—and go to behead the demon, only for it to whirl on me.

I was too slow to respond and feel an immense pain in the right side of my head. I drop my nichirin sword with a clatter and cry out as I clutch my head, blood dripping down the side of my face.

I drop to my knees and the demon takes that opportunity to pounce on me. It then begins to torture me, breaking a couple of my fingers and scraping its claws deep across my stomach, chest and side.

It was cackling as I lay there, unable to move, while grazing deep down my right arm after having done the same to one of my legs.

The demon chuckles. "Soon, you will join your parents and I will have a feast!"

It goes to finish me off as black spots dance across my vision. I fight to stay conscious. However, a deep blue nichirin katana pierces the chest of the demon before it could land the finishing blow.

"... Huh?" The demon utters in confusion. The sword is pulled back and the demon staggers, whirling around. Behind him, is a man about a year older than me, with his unruly black hair in a ponytail and striking blue eyes that go from light to dark.

He wears a burgundy and yellow and green checkered haori over his blue demon slayer uniform, sword still pointed at the demon, a stoic expression on his features.

"I'm afraid," He says in a voice that sends shivers down my spine, "that I can't let you do that."

The demon hisses, "A Hashira!"

The demon goes to attack the blue eyed man but he was faster and swings his nichirin sword in a mighty arc that severs the demon's head in one fell swoop. The head hits the floor in with a squishy sound, followed by the body. They then start to disintegrate.

The man flicks his gaze around to find my dead parents and his eyes briefly fill with sympathy. He looks to me as he murmurs, "I'm sorry about your parents. I wish I could've gotten here sooner."

The man's eyes jerk wide at the sight of my wounds, the blood on me.

"Are you alright?!" He exclaims, dropping to his knees beside me. "Where's the medical kit?!"

"U... Under the b-bathroom sink," I reply.

"I'll be right back," He says before taking off. A moment later, my saviour returns with the medical kit and immediately starts on the worst of my wounds, which is my head, stomach , side and chest. He deftly cleans my head wound before wrapping bandages around it and sets to work on cleaning and bandaging my other wounds.

I just gaze at him in silence, watching him work on cleaning and patching up my wounds, his fingers working deftly with precision. Once he's finished bandaging the worst of my wounds, the black haired man grabs my nichirin sword, sheathes it and picks me up bridal style.

"I've got to get you to the Butterfly Estate! Kocho will be able to heal the rest of you there," Says the man before I black out and know nothing after that.

Third Person's P. O. V:

A couple of weeks have passed but Giyu hasn't stopped thinking about the eighteen year old girl he'd saved that night. Her parents—her father having been a former demon slayer—have been buried but she's remained unconscious.

Giyu stalks the halls of the Butterfly Estate, heading to the infirmary to check on the pretty blonde haired girl. He'd just finished a mission and came straight here.

Giyu reaches the sliding door to the infirmary and pushes it open, pausing when he sees the blonde girl is awake and chatting to Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, who is perched on a stool next to her bed. The blonde girl has bandages wrapped around her head, and her fingers, from what he could see.

Giyu waits and listens.

"... and then he showed up and killed the demon that killed my parents before it could finish me. I didn't even get the man's name before I lost consciousness," The pink eyed girl was saying.

Kocho muses, "Hm, that would be Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira. You're lucky was able to get to you in time."

The blonde nods her head as she mutters, "I am." She then stops and jerks her head up to see her saviour standing in the doorway, causing her eyes to widen. "It's you! The one who saved me that night."

Kocho whips around to see her fellow Hashira standing there, and a smile stretches across her face. "Oh, Tomioka! We were just talking about you. Why don't you come and meet Moriko? She's awake now, as you can see."

Giyu steps into the room and heads for the blonde girl's bed. Moriko continues to gaze at him. Despite her eyes' bright colour, there's a dullness to them now.

"You're Giyu Tomioka, the one who saved me that night? I'm Moriko Hirano," The girl introduces.

"Hirano?" Giyu muses. "I've heard of that name before. If you don't mind me asking, what rank are you?" Giyu questions.

"Tsuchinoe," Moriko answers.

"That's impressive."

"Well, I've checked her vitals," Kocho says. "So I think she'll be well enough to leave later today."

"I can't go back to that house," Moriko speaks up. "I-I can't."

Kocho's black and purple orbs soften in understanding as she says, "I understand. You can stay here for awhile until we figure out a permanent place for you to stay."

"You can stay with me," Giyu says immediately, causing them both to look at him in surprise. "That is, if you want to."

"R-Really?" Moriko stutters, making him nod. "Are you sure? I don't want to intrude or anything."

"I'm sure," He says unwaveringly. "I'll go talk to Oyakata-sama right now."

"Thank you, Tomioka-san."

"Just call me Giyu," He tells her.

"Okay. Then you can just address me as Moriko. By the way, what happened to my sword?"

"It's at my place. I'll see you later," Giyu says.

"Wait!" Giyu pauses and looks at her. "Thank you for saving my life," Moriko says. Giyu gazes at her for a long moment.

"No need to thank me," He murmurs before turning and exiting the room.

Kocho just smiles at the pink eyed girl, her thoughts whirring.
