Moving On

" I'm at Macsins " I spoke into the phone as I waited for Morgan to pick me up . I didn't have to wait long . I saw a bright headlight shine my way. It was his van .
I heaved a big sigh and climbed in. The first thing I met was his smile and I tried to smile back .
" Hey " he said and tilted his head passing a finger on my cheek " You good ?"

I settled in the seat and held his hand momentarily before letting it go.
" I'm fine. Just been a long day"

" I could take you back to your place . It'll be selfish of me to- "

" Of course not . I really was looking forward to this date. Let's do this "
I needed the distraction anyways . It's like I'd seen a ghost.

" We agreed you would wait for me at the conference. We could have done that instead of you walking all the way here . If not that I was around here , i wouldn't have picked you up early "

" Yes , I needed to get out of the conference " I'd seen a ghost.

I tried to get my mind off seeing Allen . It was hard.
We got off the van and went in for dinner at a low key restaurant . Morgan kept insisting we just either go back to my place so I could rest or his but I decided against it .
Our dinner was quiet and he kept staring at me every now and then .
I tried to make conversation because he could tell something was off but I could barely get the words out . I was so so upset and I couldn't really tell why. Seeing Allen shouldn't be enough reason . There should be a more valid reason as to why I was upset . Did I hate Allen now ? I forked a meat on my plate and when i wasn't getting it , I kept trying to stab it on my plate till Morgan held my hand .
" Sorry . I'm making noise" I said apologetically.

" No, there's something wrong and I want to know "

" Maybe , drop me home ? I'm not good company right now anyways and I'm all raggedy and still tired from that conference "

" I understand "

Morgan helped me into his van but not before giving me a peck on the cheek . I don't know why he did that but it made me feel almost whole . He got in next to me .
" Ready?"

" Mmhm"

All through the drive, his hand was in my lap and I leaned into my seat and closed my eyes , trying to shut thoughts of Allen out. A loud screech woke me and it took me seconds to confirm my destination. I slowly looked to Morgan's seat but he was already out of it and  opening the door at my end.

" Sorry we went on a date with an icecream van " he said , with a little smile as he led me to my apartment .

" And I'm sorry I was a party pooper" I added and he laughed. " And I don't hate your van . I have actually taken quite a liking to it "

" Cool " he said and gave me a long peck on the cheek which made me giggle. I hugged him briefly and before I opened the door, I turned to see him still staring .

" I had fun , even though short " I said and waved him .He waved back and I turned towards my apartment and let myself in .

" Sky. You're here " Selen said all hyper as she bumped into me on the way to my room. Without saying a word , i gave her the pie pack that had already turned cold and she took it .

" How was the conference. And of course, the date. Didn't I tell you to sleep at Morgan's?"
I didn't say anything and walked past her .
" Wait ..did you talk about Allen again on the date ? " I heard her say before I banged the door .
That name
Ugggh. That name again.
That name messed up my date. Messes up my thoughts .
I didn't hear Selen talk again and I just fell on my bed , the heels falling off my feet in the process .I grabbed my pillow and screamed. ..loudd..
That name , that name is messing everything up for me . Did he have to come into my life just when I was finally moving on ? Did he ??
I screamed a second time into my pillow , hitting it for added effect and I cried . I cried and shook ...harder than I ever had in years .
'Sky , are you okay ?'was the last thing I heard before I slept .
