Moving On

The five days I had left before the 30th, I worked hard at work to attend to clients, I cleared schedules, met up with deadlines and I made sure to step on Allen's toes every few minutes;of course but not infront of any of the MAC workers . I did try it once infront of Clent and Miadi. I had left Megan's office, thanking her for her help and she nodded and blew a kiss my way .
That same day , i had walked to Allen's office and I knocked once , twice. I needed to give him my up to date reports and I needed his signature and reviews on some papers. I needed to get them to my supervisor too . Usually I wasn't supposed to be going through Allen at all but he was determined to make work here a living hell and as long as Megan was my shield now, I was gladly going to play along .
" Come in" he had said
I went in and when I saw Clent and Miadi I was more than thrilled. Clent and I were okay . Recently I had apologized to him for attacking him about my lay off at Oaks and he joked and said it was fine and he thought I has the hots for him. Miadi and I don't really speak. I considered them my superiors and was trying as much as possible to give them the accorded respect .

"Good afternoon" I greeted them and gave my papers to Allen. Miadi and Clent were seated infront of him and they smiled when they saw me but I just assumed it was because they liked me.
Allen quietly scrutinized my papers and signed . He strangely didn't give any snark remarks.

I took the papers from him but I knew I wasn't done .
" I did a good job right?"
Allen looked up from his computer at me .

" You want a sticker on your paper?"

" Would be worth a shot. I am pretty good at my job"
Clent and Miadi's smiles widened . They looked like they wanted to laugh.
Allen sighed.

" Don't flatter yourself. You can take your leave"
I still wasnt done and I wanted to say something annoying and Allen noticed so he raised an eyebrow at me and I got the hint he was not happy about what i was doing . I shouldn't have cared but he was still my boss after all . I twisted my mouth in amusement and walked away. When I was about turning the door knob to his office , he cleared his throat. I turned to look at him and he was staring.

" I know you fancy me, Ms Sky but let's not do it infront of everyone, shall we?" He said and Miadi raised an eyebrow. I frowned at Allen's smile and left the office.
So technically , that day, he partly got to me .
I worked tirelessly some days that when I was left with two to three days to leaving for Vancouver, I was not pressured with a lot. I was tired of fighting with Morgan so I finally told him he could join me to go to Vancouver. He was responding to my messages all right and visiting sometimes . He was just being very silent all of a sudden about the matter and it was creeping me out. Selen said she would have loved to come along but I talked her out of it . I needed her back at the apartment and to spend more time with Brad. I still didn't trust her to not mess things up.

It was a Thursday when I was done arranging my work desk . I had gotten permission from my supervisor and I had gotten a week and four days off from work to attend the funeral. It was around 6 pm this time so no one was around . I intentionally waited this long . I needed to make sure I had made all the right calls and my supervisor helped me assign my work out to someone. It was an intern and she seemed more excited than I myself. I smiled as I closed my drawers . I was still standing infront of my computer when i heard footsteps approaching me . I turned to see Allen in a tracksuit .
Did he not come to work today
I really didn't care as I just smiled triumphantly at him
" Guess I won " I said with my arms crossed as he stood infront of me .

He returned my smile and stood even closer to me and placed both arms on both sides of me on my work desk .
I noticed my phone ring but I was caught in his stare.

" Your boyfriend's van is in" he said and leaned in . I held the edge of the table , trying not to topple over

" That's my cue to go then"
I said, looking anywhere but his face. My heart was beating so fast out of fear and at the same time out of wild anticipation. The feeling was familiar; it was back when I and Allen used to date. Used to kiss , used to touch , used to say nothing but how much we loved each other.

I reminded myself
Used to.

" You fancy me , don't you ? " He asked still looking into my eyes.

" You wish" I breathed out.

Allen straightened and stepped back , giving me some space.
" Nice to know " he said hands in his pockets.

I couldn't help but stare at his veiny hands . Its like I wanted him to reach out and kiss me right now . Kiss me like he meant it . At this point , I did not think I wouldn't open my mouth for him.
I shook my head, slightly disappointed at myself . I looked to my work desk and grabbed my phone but before I could walk away from Allen , he blocked my path again

" Allen" I said impatiently .

" You're worried about your boyfriend ? Don't worry I want him to see this "

I raised an eyebrow questionly and I was half expecting Allen to kiss me but he just held my arms and then, wrapped his arms around me . I was surprised but I didn't say anything. I couldn't say anything and he wrapped his arms tightly yet comfortingly around me . I wanted to hug him back but I couldn't. Nothing about his hug was sensual. It was just innocent and it said so much . It said ' I miss you' if i was not mistaken . I patted him back lightly and when he left me , we were inches from each other . His nose, just inches from my forehead . He leaned in and it seemed he wanted to kiss me .I didn't try to stop him and just when our lips almost touched , he straightened and stepped away from me. I blinked and he smiled.
" Take care , okay and if you can , greet Victoria and Ciara for me "
He walked out of the office and I just held on to my phone as I watched him head out of the hallway to an elevator. I just stayed rooted there for a while till another call came in and I remembered I had to go to Morgan. Because Morgan is the one i am with . Morgan is my boyfriend.
