  The phone rung a few times as I hurried to my room. I didn't want Selen to realize I was on a call with Allen.
" Took you long enough" Allen said without greeting.
I rolled my eyes and closed the door to my room .

" You would rather i had not picked at all? "
I grabbed a pillow and sat on my bed .

" It's been a while, hasn't it been?"
I was surprised he was talking so casually . Was today opposite day?
Morgan was less talkative. Allen was being nice .

" Yhup"

" So you missed me"

" Nope"

I grabbed a bottle of water and popped the cap to take a sip.

" Well I did "
I almost choked on my water.  I cleared my throat as I looked back at my phone to check the caller ID . It was Allen I was speaking with.

" Is this a prank because I'm tired from my trip"

"I presumed you'lld be back by now but wasn't sure of the exact time."
He ignored my question, of course . Typical Allen.

" Well your timing was more or less accurate."

" Where's your boyfriend?"

" Why do you ask?"

" Because I'm speaking with his girlfriend "

" Maybe you shouldn't be then? Perhaps take that as a cue and end the call"

" That's if you want me to "

I don't know why I paused but I did as I stared out the window of my room. I was stalling all right.
" I want you to" I said finally

" Took you long enough. Are you sure you want me to?"

" Why did you call?"
It's like Allen noticed I was intentionally stalling and he chuckled .

" I just got off work.  I'm currently in bed and I thought to call and say hi".

I changed my sitting position and laid my tummy on my bed and swung my feet in the air .

" Oh thats nice of you"

" Yhup .I had to make sure you were reporting to work tomorrow "

My face contorted into confusion
" Work?"

" What did you think? Why else would your boss would call you in the night? "
I was really tired from the trip back and my shoulders tensed a bit from knowing I had to go to work the next day because I knew Allen didn't kid around . At least the new Allen I'd gotten to know didn't. He laughed and I got relaxed a bit when I noticed he was joking .

" Just teasing you. When do you intend on returning because it has to be soon. Your intern isn't doing much of an excellent job in your absence "

" You're mean , you know that? I'll be in within this week , sir " I said smiling .

" That's cool"

" She isn't doing a bad job though, is she ?"

" She's okay"

" Oh then that's fine "

" So how come your boyfriend isn't there with you?"

" How do you know he isn't and why do you keep asking about him?"

" You feel uncomfortable when I bring him up?"

" No , no it's just ..never mind. He's gone back to his apartment "

" Victoria and Ciara got to see him..did they like him?"

I knew the answer to that. They had some liking to Morgan, just not as much as they did Allen but of course he didnt have to know that.
" Yes,  they did . Surprisingly,  very much. They were allll over him."

" Oh. Cool." 

"Why do you sound disappointed ?"

" Nothing. Did you by chance extend my greetings to them? "

"I did" I don't know why I lied but strangely,  I didn't want the call with Allen to end . It wasn't interest . It was far from that .

" What did they say?" He said , his voice suddenly upbeat .

" Why do you care?"

" I think I deserve to know?"

I chuckled
" Yeah, you do. They were happy to hear you are back in Florida" I picked invisible stuff off my bed sheet as I kept swinging my legs in the air.

" They are and you aren't. Ironic isn't it"

" I never said I wasn't happy you are in Florida "

" So you are ?"

I closed my eyes trying not to ask him why he had to leave in the first place . I was barely hanging by a thread here .
" At least you're not dead . That's a good thing" I finally said.

"And they say I'm the mean one"

Allen and I both chuckled and then there was silence for a bit . I could only hear the croaking of frogs from outside and the music playing from Selen's room.
I cleared my throat , trying to get him to say something at least . I didn't have anything in mind to break the ice and it was going to get awkward any moment from now .

" Earth to Allen" I finally managed to say

" Yeah " He said his voice sounding hoarse.

" You good?"

" I am. You?"

" Hard to say. My boss is suddenly quiet"

" He's got his mind somewhere else"

" Where?" I swallowed

" He's got his mind on someone"

"Huh"
I checked the time and saw it was 1:15 am . I knew men or boys tend to be very horny during this time .

" Boss , its late.  I think you need rest "

" That's not what's happening here Sky. Its not lust. Thanks for caring but you know me better than that . If I needed a break, illd go to a motel" Allen said and chuckled .

" You do that kind of thing ?" I asked getting upset

"You would have a problem if I did?"

" I don't know"

" I'm not tied down to anyone , Sky so i think its fair for me to take a break once in a while"

" So you do?"

"Sky.."

" Sorry . So um..who did you say you had in mind just a while ago?"

I heard shuffling from Allen's end before he spoke again.
" Goodnight Sky. I'm sure you're tired from your trip"

" That's mean" I said and I couldn't say another thing before he hung up.
I frowned and looked at the screen of my phone.
I was about to put my phone down to finally sleep when Allen's message popped up.
I tilted the phone towards my face as I laid on a pillow.

[ALLEN]: I know now your inquisitive self won't be able to sleep . That was the aim , Sky . Night night ;)

I smiled before sending him a text myself. Allen hadn't forgotten how inquisitive I could be.
