Riley's POV
"Good morning class! Happy Tuesday!" my dad said once everyone had taken there seats. "So today we are going to continue to talk about self harming. This should help you with you're presentations that are due tomorrow. Also take plenty of notes."
..Wow this is really awkward for me since I've experienced self harming. Wait, Maya has sort of experienced self harming too so I'm not alone!..
"Yes!" Someone says interrupting my dad's babbling.
Suddenly everyone's heads turn towards me and I realize that I was the one who said yes out loud.
"Riley? Oh, you were talking to your self in your head again, weren't you." my dad asks.
"Yeah, sorry daddy."
"Again?" I hear Lucas say.
..Oh no. My dad better not embarrass me..
"Yup, she does that a lot at home. One time she said-"
"DAD!" I said practically yelling. I calm down and said "Can we please continue with the lesson?"
"No, Riley. I think your dad wanted to continue the story for Lucas, and everyone in the class room." Maya said to me with a smile. "Tell us Mr. Matthews," Maya continued, turning to my dad. "What did Riley say out loud?"
"Well, we were eating dinner when Riley suddenly yelled 'I THINK FICTIONAL CHARACTERS ARE COOL OKAY?!' and we all burst into laughter." my dad said smiling. Then everyone in the room started laughing so I put my head down to cover my face.
"Oh yeah! I was there when that happened, it was hilarious!" I hear Maya say. "Right before dinner, Riley was telling me about the book she was recently reading and how she wishes fictional characters were real and I told her that fictional characters are just stupid, make-believe characters. I guess she was thinking about what I said during dinner and accidentally said that out loud." then she started to laugh again.
Lucas' POV
Once the laughing died down, Mr. Matthew said "Okay know that we're done with that, I'd like to continue with the lesson.." and he starting babbling again. I wrote down a few more notes and glanced at Riley to find her (still) with her head down.
I decide to tap her shoulder and say "Riley?"
"Yes?" Riley answers with a muffled voice.
"Uh, you know you can put up your head now."
"Yea, I know."
"Come on Riles," Maya said patting Riley's head like a dog. "What will it take for you to lift your head up?"
She doesn't answer us.
Suddenly, I get an idea.
"Okay, I might regret this," I said looking at Maya for a second. "But will you put up your head if I talk in my southern accent for the rest of the school day?"
Riley finally put up her head and said "Lucas you don't have to do that fo-" but got cut off by Maya.
"No, no, Riley. I think Lucas really wants to do this."
"Seriously Maya?!" Riley and I say at the same time. We look at each other and I smile. She blushed and looked down at her hands.
..Riley is such a cutie when she blushes..
"Yeah okay," Farkle said looking up from his notes. "Are you two lovebirds done?"
"Um." was all I could say.
"Anyways," Maya said with a smirk on her face. "Lucas? Are you going to do it?"
I stay silent for a second then turn to Riley and say with a thick southern accent "If it's alright with you, I'll do it, Ma'am." then I smile and tip my imaginary hat.
We all share a small laugh then we listened to the rest of Mr. Matthew's lesson.
