Broken Hearted

Chapter 17

Riley's POV

We all piled out of the bus and saw a beautiful garden.

The teacher told us to explore the garden and get some fresh air since we've been cooped up in the bus for so long.

Everyone got into their groups of friends and walked around the garden. As usual, Maya, Farkle, Lucas, and I walked with each other.

"This garden is so beautiful," Maya said in awe.

I spotted a butterfly and squealed, "Butterfly!"

I've loved butterflies ever since I was a little girl. The different patterns on their wings and the way they flutter in the sky amaze me.

In the corner of my eye, I caught Lucas smiling at me.

I felt my cheeks getting warm so quickly looked down at my shoes. 

Suddenly I felt someone's hand on my chin and before I knew it, I was face to face with Lucas.

"Don't be embarrassed, princess. I know how much you love butterflies. Plus, I thought that you getting so excited over a butterfly was adorable," Lucas said.

 I could only smile in response as I felt my cheeks get even warmer.

Someone's fake cough made Lucas and I snap out of it. We realized that it was Maya who fake coughed. Maya, and Farkle who stood next to her, both raised their eyebrows at us.

"Erm.. you two saw that, didn't you," I said in embarrassment.

"Yep," Farkle said with a laugh.

"Front row seats!" Maya exclaimed proudly.

Lucas laughed as I playfully punched Maya in the arm.

"Hey Maya, can you go back to the bus with me? I wanna get my camera to take some pictures," Farkle asked.

"Sure," Maya replied. "Let's-"

"Wait," Lucas said, cutting Maya off. "Is this another excuse to get Riley and I alone?"

"You shouldn't assume things, Lu-"

"Actually," Farkle said, cutting Maya off too. "Yes and no. Yes because you two lovebirds need more alone time. No because I don't have to get my camera, but I will just to get you two alone,"

"I second that!" Maya said with a smile. "Also, I got cut off not one, but two times! How rude," Maya said. After flipping her hair with some sass, she started waking towards the bus.

"See you guys later!" Farkle said, and ran to catch up with Maya.

"I like our lil group of friends," Lucas said as we watched Maya and Farkle walk to the bus.

"Same here," I replied.

Lucas and I talked and explored the garden together. And while we were sitting by a lake that we came across, out of the blue, he put his hand on my cheek and kissed me. 

The kiss was soft, passionate, and filled with love. 

It was perfect.

Afterward, we were called back to the bus again to travel somewhere different. 

Eventually we got off the bus and into a train. None of us knew where we were headed, but we simply followed the teacher.

I was talking to Maya while we were all getting into the train, when I heard Lucas call m name.

"Hey, Riley!" Lucas said with a smile. "Wanna sit next to me?"

The seats in  the train could only hold up to two people, and I was planning on siting next to Maya like I always do.
