To live is to die🪽 (Cliff Burton one shot)

27th of september, a sorrowful day to remember. On this day, I lost the only person I wished could live forever, or at least, the person I wished I could spend a lot of time with, making memories together, getting older. But fate decided this, and I have to accept it, even if it hurts like hell. I arrived in Sweden, where everything happened. I walk toward his memorial. "Hi, love" I whispered and I laid the bouquet of flowers on the ground. "I hope you're good up there, but I miss you so much" I murmured, trying not to cry, but it was very hard.I sat on the ground, touching his cold memorial. I closed my eyes and I let the wind pass me a little. Every memory passed through my mind, every happy moment we shared was still vivid in my mind. Of all the good memories, the one that is most beautiful and important to me is only one. I smiled at this memory. "Cliff, do you remember when you proposed to me?" I asked and I let the memory pass through my mind.

flashback

"Cliff, where are you taking me?" I asked him curious. "It's a surprise" He said without adding anything else. We walked for another 10 minutes when I recognized the street. "Love, why are you taking me to your house?" "You'll see" he said and he held my hand tight. We entered and he led me through the stairs.We climbed it and then I saw a door. He opened it, and I saw the beautiful dawn, with its magical colors, a shade of pink and orange painted in the sky. "Wow" I murmured and I saw him smiling. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He asked and I nodded. "Yeah, thank you love for this surprise" and I hugged him tightly. "I'm glad you liked it" He said and kissed my forehead. "Hey Y/n, look, a swallow" he said and I immediately turned around, but I didn't see any swallow. "Cliff, I didn't see any swal-" but I couldn't finish the phrase.

 I saw him kneeling with a box where inside was a ring and a big smile appeared on his face. I couldn't help, but I cried. "Y/n, I want to make you mine forever. There is nothing in the world that makes me happier than being next to you. Would you like to marry me?" "Yes, of course!" I said and I hugged him very tightly. I looked deeply in his eyes. "Thank you, for letting me stay by your side.I promise you that I'm gonna stand by you. I don't know what life has in store for us, but I promise you that I will love you forever and be by your side forever" I said resting my head on his cheek. "That's why I'm so lucky to have you" He said and kissed my hand. We hugged and looked at the dawn together in silence, enjoying it.

"I still remember that day like it was yesterday. We hoped to share the future together but it had been denied. But I want you to remember that I didn't forget my promise. I will always love you, Cliff. No matter what, I belong to you. See? This ring is the proof" I said, showing him the ring. I stood up and I looked at the sky. "Are you there looking down at me too?" I asked and I saw a white butterfly passing me by. "I suppose it's a yes then. See you my love. Wait until we meet again " I said and I wiped away the tears that now needed to come out.
