"Morning."
Jason was sliding into his shirt beside the bed, and he greeted Talia when he heard the bed shift and the covers rustle.
"Oh. Good morning."
Jason continued to not face the bed, fixing his hair in the mirror. "I got you a glass of warm water, by the way. On the nightstand."
Talia just looked at his back, slightly confused. "Oh, thanks."
"Okay," Jason spun around. "Why the fuck is this so awkward? It's not our first time hooking up. Even if it is, it'll probably be less awkward than it is now."
It was, indeed, awkward. Jason was trying his best to make sure everything is going well and Talia was simply...comprehending their new relationship status.
"Well, it's different, obviously." Talia stated.
"Yeah—" he looked at her again then realized she was still naked in his bed. He immediately looked away in embarrassment. Maybe he shouldn't. It's not like they don't know each other naked, but it still feels sort of weird. Oh, who was he kidding? It's extremely weird.
"So uh...what do you wanna get for breakfast? There's a nice cafe down the street, I don't know if you've been there, but it's pretty nice," he said without directly looking at her, more of looking at the ceiling.
"Mhm. Yeah, sure. Just, let me get dressed for a second."
.
.
"Okay, so, they make really good macchiatos, I know you love that."
They were standing in front of the coffee shop, just about to walk in. Talia just shrugged and smiled. The wooden door creaked open as they walked in, immediately bathing in the scent of coffee.
"Jason?"
His eyes tracked the origin of the sound, and his eyes met with a pair of espresso brown ones. Fuck.
Sat at the very end of the room was Hailey, across from her sat a blonde woman, who also turned her head to look at Jason.
"Oh, Hailey, I uh—" Jason fidgeted the hem of his shirt anxiously. Talia stuck her hands in her black leather jacket and looked at Jason emotionlessly.
The blonde woman suddenly stood up and walked towards Jason. "You're Jason? Hailey told me quite a lot about you. I'm Liz. Her girlfriend."
"Oh, yeah, nice to—"
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
He paused for a second. Liz looked at him in confusion.
"—uh, meet you." he finished.
"Right, you just spaced out in the middle of greeting me. What the fuck was that? A TIA?"
Jason's eyes widened. "TIA? You mean transient ischemic attack?"
Liz's eyes widened as well. "You know what that is?"
"I almost graduated med school."
"Oh, cool. I was a biology major."
"Okay what's going on right now?" Talia stepped in.
Jason and Liz exchanged glances then simultaneously looked at Talia. When Jason opened his mouth to reply, his phone suddenly rung. He pulled it out of his pocket.
"Supercop? Who the hell is that?" Liz commented.
"Hey, Bradford, what's up?"
Tim's voice came through. "Station. Now."
