Melo's POV:

I woke up to Ayanda and Ayize's gentle whispers.

"Kuhle, wake up! We're leaving in a few minutes."

My heart sank.

Their departure was inevitable.

I quickly washed my face and followed them downstairs.

The atmosphere was tense.

Ayanda and Ayize clung to me, tears welling up in their eyes.

"We'll miss you so much, Kuhle," Ayanda whispered.

Ayize nodded, her voice trembling.

"I don't want to leave."

Nkosenye gently coaxed Ayize toward the car.

But she resisted, clinging to me.

"No, no, no! I won't go!" Ayize sobbed.

Ayanda broke down, tears streaming down her face.

"Ayize, please don't cry," Ayanda pleaded.

But I couldn't hold back.

Tears flowed freely as I hugged them tight.

"We'll video call every day," I promised.

Ayize's grip tightened.

"I'll never forget you, Kuhle."

Nkosenye and Dad gently pryed Ayize from me.

"Let's go, baby," Nkosenye coaxed.

Ayize's cries echoed through the house.

Ayanda clung to me, her body shaking.

"Kuhle, I love you."

"I love you too, Aya."

Dad and Nkosenye managed to settle the twins into the car.

As they drove away, I collapsed into Ma's arms.

"Ma, I'll miss them so much!" I sobbed.

uMa held me close, stroking my hair.

"I know, baby. It's hard to let go but don't worry they'll be back during the holidays and you know they'll permanently live with us when they are doing high school."

I wept uncontrollably, my heart heavy.

Mama's gentle whispers soothed me.

"They'll be back soon, Nana."

But the ache remained.

I missed them already.

Melo's POV:

I clung to uMa, tears streaming down my face.

"Nana, you need to get ready for school," Ma coaxed.

"I don't want to go, Ma," I pleaded.

"Exams are important,  Nana. You've studied hard."

But the thought of facing the day without Ayanda and Ayize felt overwhelming.

uMa gently led me to the bathroom.

"Take a quick shower, sweetie. It'll help you feel better."

I mechanically went through the motions.

Washing my face.

Brushing my teeth.

Getting dressed in my school uniform.
