note: idk shit about the divorce process and I couldn't be bothered researching, so I made it up, it's not correct, don't mind it

When the court date came around, I was terrified. Not only was I now seven weeks pregnant with God knows who's baby, but I was about to face the worst part of my career. I hadn't wanted this to be public, but of course, Matty had started running his mouth and now the whole world knew about our splitting up. There were cameras all around the court building.

Travis came with me for support, and we arrived before Matty did. His table was empty as I sat down in-between Travis and my lawyer, wearing a respectable and modest dress to conceal my stomach. There was barely anything to show, but I wasn't going to be taking any chances.

We'd talked a lot about what to do, Travis and I. We were going to hide my pregnancy for as long as humanely possible, and then when we had to, we were going to make a public statement saying that the baby belonged to Travis, and no we weren't a couple, but we'd be parents together. Travis and I weren't going to pretend to be in love just because we were having a baby, and it wasn't up to anyone else to tell us to do so. Things happened, and I was glad this was happening with him.

"Bug." Travis murmured, and I turned to him. "I'm proud of you." He told me, placing a hand on my arm. "I know this is hard beyond belief especially considering the circumstances, but you've stayed my Tay-Bug throughout all of it."

"Because of you." I whispered. "I couldn't do this without you."

Travis smiled sympathetically and squeezed my arm, and I nodded as he dropped his hand. The mood was stiff, knowing how difficult this would be. Matty was not going to make this easy for me, but I'd talked to my lawyer. Sam had been such a help, and she'd assured me that he couldn't take anything from me. Our pre nup hadn't gone for long enough. He wasn't entitled to anything.

I heard the door again and turned my head, lips pressing thinly together when I saw my soon to be ex husband walk in. He had a seedy looking lawyer with him, and was wearing clothes that looked like they hadn't seen the good side of a wash in days. He looked like shit. Hungover probably.

I watched as he slumped into his seat, not sparing a glance my way. Taking a breath, I turned my head, fiddling with my fingers in my lap. I saw Travis' hand twitch but he kept it where it was, and I knew why. We didn't want to give anyone any reason to think Travis was here as my boyfriend. They'd jump on any chance.

We rose when the judge came in, and he gave a small nod to allow us to sit back down. There was a moment of silence while he opened the file that contained the divorce information, and then he looked up. Towards me.

"Mrs Swift." He said.

"Your honor." I stood up.

"You filed for divorce against Mr Healy?"

"Yes." I nodded.

"Are there any shared assets, things belonging to the both of you, children, houses?"

"No your honor."

"Objection." Matty's lawyer stood up, and I looked over. Sam had warned me that they might try to claim something, so I wasn't worried that they'd get it. "My client shared a home with Mrs Swift." The judge nodded, holding up his hand to silence.

"Mrs Swift?" He asked me, and Sam handed me the document to show that my name was the only one on the rights to the apartment. For now anyway. I was selling it. Approaching the judge, I handed him the document and returned to stand by my seat. "Overruled." The judge said after a moment. "Mrs Swift is the only one who holds right to this residence."
