His tone and cocky look brought back my earlier irritation. I'd only been here five minutes and I was already being annoyed by some arrogant jerk.
Perfect, this is just what I needed
I scowled at him. "And you are?" I questioned.
He laughed at the change in my face and stepped closer, leaning down so that his lips grazed against my ear. "Your worst nightmare."
He twirled a strand of hair around his finger. "Or your best dream." He whispered into my ear.
I stepped away from him, getting some of my personal space again.
"Well thank you so much for that informative description. Now move and let me get through." I hissed.
He didn't move. In fact he did the exact opposite of that and stepped even closer. He'd let go of my hair though, but now he loomed over me thanks to that stupid height of his.
"And what if I don't?" He taunted.
"If you don't, I'm going to kick you in that little spot of yours and laugh as you fall to the ground like a rock." I retorted.
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "You're funny. I've decided... I like you."
I feigned a gasp of happiness and put a hand to my mouth, my eyes widening. "Well now I can die a happy woman because you like me!! Wonderful! I don't even know your name, but that doesn't matter at all, because... well you 'like me.'"
I stepped back from him and moved around him towards the front door. I turned slightly when I opened the door to go inside. He was watching me with that same smirk on his face, and now looked almost intrigued.
"If you're so curious about finding out my name, then ask people around the camp."
I rolled my eyes. "Who said I was curious? Who said I even cared?" I asked him, but he was already walking away.
I scoffed and went inside.
Maybe my mom should meet that guy and she'll realize that my problems aren't as bad as his
I looked around and saw that I was in some type of office. I surveyed the room and saw a bulletin board with a bunch of names on it. I saw my name and grabbed the envelope attached. I opened the envelope and saw a bunch of information about the camp inside.
I was assigned to Cabin 8,and noticed that I was stuck in with about three other girls. So far at least, there were still some empty beds. Already I knew that I probably wouldn't get along very well with them. Not that I really got along with anyone. I had "friends" but there was no way we were what you'd call close. Just people that went to all the parties I did really.
I threw my bags onto one of the top bunks and started to throw my stuff into one of the drawers. Just as I was stuffing some t-shirts into the drawer, a blonde haired girl came into my view.
"Hi there! I'm Alyssa! What's your name?"
I nearly groaned. I hated chipper, preppy girls.
"Sydney." I muttered, turning my back to her.
"Great! Welcome to Camp Pinewood. I'm your counselor. If you have any problems just come to me. We should have about two other girls joining us, but they might not be coming in till later. Oh, and you need to put a sticker on your drawer with your name on it. Also, there's a few rules that you need to be told and-"
I cut her off, her high pitched voice annoying me and pushing me over the edge. Too many people here did not know what it meant to just leave people be.
"Look, I have a working brain- one that might work better than yours since I talk at a normal pitch. I'm pretty sure those 'rules' aren't very hard to guess at. I'm just going to leave now and get some dinner. So...whatever." I said, and then backed out of the open door and towards where the smell of food was coming from.
When I got to the cafeteria I grabbed a tray of what looked like a hamburger and fries and found a table to sit by myself away from everybody.
"You looked like a complete loner sitting here all by yourself." The boy from earlier whispered in my ear, sitting beside me.
"Maybe there was a reason for that." I muttered, jerking away from his lips.
"But a pretty thing like you shouldn't be all alone. So, that's why I'm here." He told me, that smirk from earlier on his face again. Part of me wondered if it was just glued to his face.
"Oh thanks so much. It's really helping that you're annoying me- again- and interrupting my meal."
"No problem babe." He smiled.
"Listen, I didn't come here to make friends. I was dragged here by my mother and her loser of a husband. Why don't you do me a favor and leave me alone." I snapped.
For a moment there it looked like I had caught the boy off guard, but he recovered quickly and the smirk returned.
"My name is Jesse Peirce." He said at last before he got up and strode away.
