After my group finished our swimming activity we were allowed to change and have an hour of "free time" to ourselves before lunch.

I was walking back to my cabin when I heard a commotion coming from the woods to my left. Naturally, I was curious so I went to investigate.

I stepped through high brush and past trees and soon came to a clearing. I hid behind a large oak tree and saw Alyssa arguing with Jesse.

"But you promised!" She yelled. "I held my end of the bargain; I got those charges against you cleared from your file. God, I even helped get rid of the kid you beat up. They were going to send you to jail Jesse!"

"Lower your voice." Jesse hissed. He looked around quickly, when he didn't see anyone he turned back to the hysterical blonde.

"I know ok. And I already thanked you for helping me out." He told her.

"You said we could be together again. But now I find you flirting with some other girl. You are mine." She exclaimed.

She then pulled Jesse into her waiting lips by his shirt. When they started making out I turned to walk away. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking where I was going and stepped on a tree branch.

The loud snap! was like a siren through the quiet clearing. I dove into a nearby bush when I saw Jesse and Alyssa break apart.

"Who's there!" Jesse called.

I peeked through the leaves and saw the couple looking around the clearing for the intruder. I held my breath as Alyssa came to stand right by the bush I was sitting in.
"Maybe it was an animal?" Jesse shrugged.

"Whatever." Alyssa flipped her hair. "I meant what I said before, stay away from Sydney."

"You know I do what I want Lyssa." Jesse told her.

Alyssa rolled her eyes. "You and I both know that I'm the only one who can fulfill your needs. If you need me, I'll be in my cabin." Alyssa then sauntered away. Shaking her hips exaggeratedly, she left the clearing.

When she was gone I turned my attention to Jesse, waiting for him to leave as well. When he didn't I started to get worried.

"You can come out now Sydney." Jesse said and looked straight at the bush I was in.

My eyes widened and I decided to stay quiet and pray that he would let it go.

"I know you're there." Jesse taunted, smiling.

I sighed and stood up.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"I saw you dive into the bush." Jesse said. "Now why were you eavesdropping on my private conversation?"

I shrugged. "I heard yelling and came to investigate."

"I bet you're really curious as to what we were talking about."

"I don't really care." I lied. The truth was that I kept replaying their conversation over and over in my head. I was trying to figure out what the hell they were talking about.

"Good, because it's none of your business." Jesse snapped, his eyes boring into mine.. "And you're not going to mention this to anybody."

I glared at him. "And what if I do?"

Jesse grinned at me and stuck his hands in his pocket.

"Trust me Syd, you don't want to know." With that said Jesse turned around and walked out of the clearing.

I followed soon after him and headed towards Cabin Four. When I got there I found Tara sleeping in her bed alone. I quickly woke her up and locked the door to her cabin.

"What's up?" She yawned.

"You will never guess what I just overheard." I then launched into what I had learned from what Jesse and Alyssa were talking about.

"What do you think that was about?" I asked her when I was done.

Tara furrowed her eyebrows. "I think it's about the kid that Jesse beat up. Maybe Alyssa found some way to get the incident wiped off of his file?"

"Good idea. But how could she do that? And what happened to the kid. Alyssa said she got rid of him."

"I have no idea. All I know is that his name was Brandon Faye." Tara told me.

Suddenly an idea popped into my head.

"Are there any computers here?" I asked.

"Yeah, in the office. Why?"

Rather than answer her and waste time I quickly left the cabin. I literally ran to the office building and opened the door. I looked inside and found that the office was conveniently empty.

It was then that I realized that everyone was probably in the mess hall eating lunch.

I went to the computer at the front desk and brought up Google. Once there I typed in the name Brandon Faye. Immediately several results came up. I clicked on the one that said "Surprising death: Investigation".

I scanned through the words and read about Jesse's brutal beating of the junior in high school. Finally when I got to the bottom of the page I gasped.

Days before Faye's scheduled court testimony against Jesse Peirce, his body was found floating in the Quinnipiac River. Police ruled the death as a suicide.

One thought came to mind after reading the news.

Is this what Alyssa meant when she said that she got rid of Brandon Faye?
