Chapter 20 - Sofia

"Thanks. That's very comforting coming from a monster like you".

His voice plays over and over again in my head like a broken record.

I feel that familiar pressure in my chest and it keeps building. I set my elbows on the table and hold my head. I drop my face so they don't see my tears.

"I'm not a monster" I whisper to myself, my hands shaking. I keep repeating the sentence over and over, trying to cover Aaron's voice in my head.

"I'm not the monster" I tears fall from my eyes straight to the table.

I wipe the table with my palm and get frustrated when I only manage to smear the wet spots instead of making them disappear.

I hit the table in anger. "I'm not a monster" I groan, "I'm not the monster!" I cry out.

Agent Morgan bursts in and has to grab me in order to prevent me from hurting myself. I fight him at first but end up crying again.

"Call Hotchner in here!" I demand

"We are not a call sender"

"I don't fucking care! Tell him to man up and come in here. He doesn't get to throw insults and disappear like a coward. I want him here now if he wants to get a confession. I won't be talking to anyone else" I demand.

Agent Morgan leaves and, sure enough, Hotchner is back within minutes.

"Welcome back. Did you find your balls?" I ask him

"I was told that you are only going to give your confession to me" he says, placing his hands in his pockets.

"Confession. Right. Here are 27 confessions for you.

"Matthew Wade: ungrateful spoiled drug addict who beat me up every time he was angry, and kept calling me a little slut when I told him what happened in NYU.

"Ethan Caldwell made fun of me when I returned from NYU but it didn't stop me from putting his hand up my skirt.

"Nolan Reed also made fun of me when I returned from NYU and had a bet with Matthew that they could make me sleep with Caldwell.

"Leo Miller raped me and I bet so many more in NYU but always got away with it.

"Damian Pierce was a cab driver who was taking advantage of drunk college students outside of bars, promising them he'll take them home after a small detour.

"Silas Montgomery was abusing and raping his wife while their children were in the next room.

"Rowan Hughes was too invested in kids, always watching them from his window while self pleasuring.

"Vincent Morley was a trafficker.

"Adrian Blake was a wife and kid beater.

"Finnley Hawthorne was raping his own daughter since she was 9 years old.

"Tobias Mercer was another pervert who lured drunk girls in his taxi.

"Declan Barrett was a rich guy who paid bonuses to his female employees after he finished in them.

"Greg Foster was Vincent Morley partner.

"Emmett Langston was hosting parties where not all the participants were there willingly.

"Miles Haverford hunted his wife down when she left him and almost killed her with his bare hands because she couldn't stand his cheating and abuse anymore.

"Wesley Drake was a kid lover.

"Callum Winters was blackmailing women with sex tapes after sleeping with them so they'd send him money.

"Drake Phil was a teen lover.

"Simon Ashford was a spoiled rich kid who thought unconscious drunk girls meant consent.

"Donovan Hale drugged women and raped them in their own homes.

"Bryce Whitman was exploiting his wife.

"Julian Rivers was only turned on by preteen boys and got them in his home with the promise of money and alcohol.

"Holden Fletcher also liked preteen boys.

"Xavier Bennett abused his wife so badly he literally ripped her perineum.

"Asher Calloway paid and blackmailed waitress into giving him head outside the restaurants on their breaks.

"Mason Blackwell raped his nieces and nephews ever since they were about 7 years old.

"Jonathan M. Guller was threatening to destroy his employees if they didn't give in to his wishes".

I am out of breath by the time I finish my rant. Aaron just stares at me with the same tough expression.

"Here! 27 confessions! And what do they all have in common? They are rich men who have everything and still want more, who thought they are untouchable. So, tell me, which one of us is really a monster? Me or them?" I wonder.

"You killed 27 people" is the only thing Aaron says.

I roll my eyes and chuckles. "What do these guys always say? They were asking asking for it" I quote. "They brought it upon themselves. I just proved that they are not untouchable. And I had fun doing it" I laugh.

"Tell me, Aaron, as a lawyer, do you think it is fair for a guy to rape and beat up a girl and then have no consequences? While she goes through years of suffering! Answer me!" I demand

"No. And the justice system--"

"What justice system?" I chuckle. "I just listed you 27 monsters who were getting away with everything for so many years"

"I will not justify your actions, Sofia. I won't" he insists

"Alright. We're being recorded, I get it. But you know I'm right".

Aaron lowers his head for a moment. "An agent will be back to transfer you to the holding cells downstairs" is the only thing he says and heads out.

"I'm not going to prison" I state

"Yes, you are" he replies and shuts the door.
