Maria's POV:

I watched as the clock's shortest hand tick, seconds going by as my eyes shifted to the teacher's boring words. I began to yawn as I had just about had enough of learning about how to complete the square in Maths. I suddenly realised I needed to go toilet so I raised my hand, earning the attention of the teacher.

"Yes, Maria?" Miss Atwal said, looking over at me and pointing at me with her whiteboard pen.

"Please can I use the bathroom? I have a toilet pass-" I said, pulling out my slip but she just smiled at me.

"No, dear. It is okay, even if you didn't have a slip I'd still let you go. Maria, you can go." Miss Atwal smiled, lifting her glasses more up her nose so they wouldn't fall off.

"Oh, thank you Miss! You are so kind." I replied, politely.

I pushed my chair out of the table and got up. From the corner of my eye, I could see Clay staring at me. Ever since lunch, he has been staring at me with a concerned look on his face. Every time I caught him though, he'd quickly smile but then quickly look away, which I thought was strange but then again, it was 'Classic Clay' according to Jessica. I shook my head and left the classroom. I pulled out my phone just to check the time and saw that it was 2:45 pm, that meant there was only 25 minutes of lesson left before I could be done with my first day back at school. Ugh, finally!

My head was down low as I had held my gaze onto my phone screen, completely oblivious to my surroundings when all of a sudden, I bumped into something. Something hard and solid. It was someone's chest and I fell hard on the ground. I tried to look up, stumbling on the ground when a kind hand reached out to help me.

"W-Winston? What are you- what are you doing out of lesson?" I stuttered, my words slipping out of my mouth like it was natural for me and jumbling up together to create a sentence.

"I got lost trying to find my last lesson and just spent the past half an hour wondering around the corridors. Just doing rounders and not getting in trouble 'cause I'm the new kid." Winston smiled, his hands still interlocked with mine. He winked at me and I could feel my cheeks blush.

I scratched the back of my dark brown hair, unsure of what to say after that. The silence was getting awkward and unbearable so I decided to strike up simple conversation. "So, what lesson did you just have?"

"Oh, I just had Maths, well I was meant to be in Maths but nope. Here I am, doing rounders." Winston laughed. "What did you have?"

"Maths aswell. God, it's pain! It's my first day back after a long time, what makes you think I give a shit about completing the square to find the turning point. Like seriously, leave me alone!" I joked, a frustrated undertone apparent in my voice. Winston just giggled at my silly comments and I found myself looking up at him in awe. His laugh was such a perfect sound.

"Well, I have to get back to lesson in a few minutes or I'm going to get in so much trouble but it was nice catching up! I'll see you tomorrow." I said, attempting to walk away but I was pulled back to halt by a strong grip. I turned around to see his hand, tightly hanging onto mine. He wasn't planning on letting go off me.

"W-Winston." I said, breathlessly as he pulled me back, closer to his body. He had me pinned against the wall and I began to relive the moments at lunch. Deja vu?
