okay, now onto the actual book: happy reading!
General POV:
Clay's heart raced as he stared at the unknown number's contact flashing on his phone screen. He felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. Who could it be? His gut was telling him it was Winston. It just had to be him. With a shaky breath, he locked his phone.
Just then, he turned sharply, lost in his thoughts, and collided right into Justin.
"Whoa, Clay! Everything okay?" Justin asked, steadying him with a hand on his shoulder.
Clay glanced up, trying to shake off the confusion. "No! I mean, maybe? I just got a call from an unknown number, and I don't know what to do!" He gestured wildly at his phone, feeling the weight of uncertainty.
Justin's expression shifted to concern. "An unknown number? Did you answer it?"
"Yeah it was some guy, presumably Winston. He kept calling me and I don't know what to do. He told me to tell Maria that I hate her, like what the fuck!" Clay confessed, clearly sounding stressed out.

"Why is it freaking you out so much?" Justin asked, a concerned look on his face. "It doesn't matter, if it's just Winston, there's nothing to be afraid of, right?"
But Clay being Clay, he ignored that question and said, "I gotta get to class." before he walked away and far from Justin.
Suddenly, he saw Maria at the end of the corridor, walking alone. This was his chance to ask her how she felt about everything. About how she felt about their encounter the other night, about how she felt about still being Winston, about how she felt about him. That was the most important thing that he just needed to know.
"Maria! Hey!" Clay said, jumping out in front of her and giving her small wave.
"Hey, Clay! I was just thinking about how we should totally work on our projects. For real this time, no sex and none of that sort, alright?"
"Yeah, I'm down." He said, clasping his hands together whilst smiling. He realised that he would have alone time with her once again so he could talk. Just so he could talk.
