Heeseung stared at the kitchen in a state of mild panic. Six toddlers. Six. And he was the only one responsible for feeding them tonight. "How hard can it be?" Heeseung muttered under his breath, trying to stay optimistic as he prepared a simple dinner of mashed potatoes, vegetables, and tiny cut-up pieces of chicken.

But deep down, he knew — this was going to be chaos.

He glanced over to the dining table where Jay, Jake, Ni-ki, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Jungwon were seated in their high chairs. Each one looked impossibly small in comparison to their usual confident selves. Their chubby faces and wide, curious eyes were staring at him, waiting for food, except for Ni-ki, who was already drumming on his high chair tray with a spoon, creating a steady rhythm of clanging noises.

"Alright, guys, food's coming," Heeseung called out, turning back to the stove and scooping the mashed potatoes into small bowls.

Just as he turned back with the first bowl, Jake let out a loud giggle, tossing his spoon over his shoulder. It clattered to the floor, and Ni-ki, not wanting to be outdone, followed suit, launching his spoon with an enthusiastic squeal. "Wheee!"

Heeseung sighed, setting the bowls on the table and picking up the fallen spoons. "Can we please not throw things tonight?" he pleaded, already knowing it was a futile request.

As he placed a bowl in front of Sunoo, the toddler immediately shrunk back, his eyes wide. Heeseung noticed the anxious look on his face and crouched down next to him. "It's okay, Sunoo. Just mashed potatoes," he said softly, giving Sunoo's tiny hand a comforting pat. But Sunoo didn’t seem convinced and kept his eyes fixed on the food as if it might attack him.

Meanwhile, Jungwon had discovered that if he hit his mashed potatoes with his spoon, little chunks of it would go flying across the room. He smacked his spoon down with a delighted giggle, sending a piece of potato soaring through the air.

Splatt!

The mashed potato hit Jay squarely on the forehead. For a moment, there was silence, then Jay’s eyes went wide with shock. He blinked, the potato slowly sliding down his face, and then, without warning, he burst into tears. His wails echoed through the kitchen.

"No, no, Jay, it's okay!" Heeseung rushed over, frantically wiping the mashed potatoes off Jay’s face. He handed him a napkin, but Jay just sobbed harder, completely inconsolable.

As Heeseung was trying to comfort Jay, Sunghoon decided he wanted to eat on his own. He grabbed a handful of mashed potatoes with his bare hands, squishing it between his fingers. He brought it to his mouth, but missed entirely, smearing the food all over his cheek and chin instead.

Ni-ki, on the other hand, had already abandoned his spoon and was now trying to stand in his high chair. "Ni-ki, sit down!" Heeseung called out, hurrying over to get him seated properly, but Ni-ki was too fast. Before Heeseung could reach him, Ni-ki threw a piece of broccoli into the air.

The broccoli sailed across the room and landed right in Jake’s bowl. Jake looked down at the green vegetable, then up at Ni-ki, his face lighting up with joy as if Ni-ki had given him the greatest gift. Without hesitation, Jake picked up the broccoli and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing with loud, exaggerated sounds of approval.

"Bro-co!" Jake exclaimed proudly, clapping his hands together.

Heeseung let out a sigh of relief. At least someone was eating.

But then, from the corner of his eye, Heeseung saw Sunghoon reaching across the table, his chubby hand grabbing for Jungwon’s food. Jungwon, sensing the invasion of his personal space, let out a loud shriek and slapped Sunghoon’s hand away.

Sunghoon, clearly offended, gave Jungwon a hard stare, his lower lip trembling. And then, in a flash, Sunghoon grabbed a handful of Jungwon’s potatoes and smushed them onto Jungwon’s face with a look of triumph.

Heeseung’s eyes widened. "No, no, no! Sunghoon, we don’t—"

Too late. Jungwon began to wail, his face now covered in mashed potatoes, while Sunghoon sat back in his high chair, looking very pleased with himself.

Just as Heeseung thought things couldn’t get any worse, he heard a tiny thump behind him. He turned to see Sunoo standing up in his high chair, shaking slightly as he tried to balance himself. Before Heeseung could react, Sunoo tumbled forward, landing on the table with a soft flop, his little face now planted firmly in his plate of mashed potatoes.

Heeseung rushed over, lifting Sunoo up and wiping the mashed potatoes off his face. "Okay, okay, no more standing on the table!" he said, trying to hold back his laughter despite the sheer chaos that had unfolded.

Sunoo looked up at him, his eyes wide, and then... he sneezed. A spray of mashed potatoes flew everywhere, landing on Heeseung’s face and clothes.

Heeseung stood there, frozen for a moment, before wiping the potatoes off with a tired smile. "Alright, that's it. We're done. Dinner is officially over."

As he began cleaning up the disaster of a dinner, Heeseung looked around at the messy toddlers — Sunoo still looking shocked, Jungwon rubbing mashed potatoes out of his eyes, Jay sniffling, Ni-ki clapping for no reason, Jake playing with his broccoli, and Sunghoon smirking like he had just won a great battle.

Heeseung shook his head and chuckled softly to himself. "I don't know how we’re going to survive the next two weeks, but at least it won’t be boring."

And with that, he picked up the nearest towel and got to work, knowing full well that the chaos was far from over.
