Evan knocked on Kendra's office door. She looked away from her computer and frowned. "Evan. Is everything okay?" She rose to her feet.
"Yeah." He nodded. "I was just close by and figured I come through." Kendra's face scrunched up. He laughed. "Alright so I was thinking about you."
"About me?" She smiled. "But I thought what happened on vacation was just a one time thing."
"I mean I ain't here for that." He laughed. "You more decent than what I was expecting and I don't really know a lot of people around here."
"Ohhhhh. I'm just something to do when there's nothing to do. Got it." She nodded her head. He laughed and she joined. "You can show up here whenever you like. Doesn't mean I'm going to always be free." She teased.
"I'll keep that in mind. Or you could give me your number and we can avoid my awkward pop ups." He smiled.
"I don't know. I kind of like seeing you a little nervous." She flirted making him shake his head. "Where's your twin?"
"With my mom as always." He scoffed. "I stopped past to drop her some money off. They always find ways to get him to stay with her." Kendra nodded.
"That's sweet. I met my dad yesterday for the first time. Well it felt like the first time for me. But Jazmyn remembered him." Kendra admitted. Evan looked her over.
"You seem upset."
"You don't think it's weird timing? Or maybe I just don't trust anyone because of Kandace. She just." Kendra sighed. "I want to see my dad have good intentions and be a good man. But I don't know him."
He nodded his head. "I get that. My dad been locked up my whole life. Then one day he was home. And literally two days out he was dead." Evan stepped closer. "And I didn't trust him so we never really even talked."
"I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Azul never shared that with me."
"We had different dads. Although Azul did love my dad like her own. He was there for her more than he got to be there for me. She probably told Jazz about him."
"More than likely." Kendra smiled. "My dad is about to uproot his whole life to be here with us."
"And you don't trust it?"
"I just want to protect the family I'm apart of now. The Hasan's have accepted me in ways men have never accepted me. Like I trust them wholeheartedly. And I've only known them for six months."
"You don't got no room in your life for anything else?" He asked as he moved around the office. Evan stopped at a picture of her and Jazmyn.
"Well no. I mean of course I have room for more. But I'm so used to not having much. I really just don't want to be disappointed. Or let down." She sighed. "Your probably like at least you get to have your dad."
