Nani set her purse on the back of the chair she just took a seat in. "Sorry I'm late boo." She sighed as she pushed her glasses above her head. "Let's get straight to mimosas please and thank you."

"I already ordered you one." Sloane smiled. "I knew Asad wasn't letting you out of the door without him holding you up a little." She teased. But Naomi didn't smile the way she normally would.

"Oop. Hold on that's not the usual reaction when that man's name is mentioned. What's going on boop?" Sloane asked as she took a sip of her mimosa. "It's normally my man, my man, my man." She teased.

"Let's just say we're out of the honeymoon phase." Nani shrugged. "I'm mad at him. He tells me what he wants to it feels like at times. I don't know." She shrugged.

"Well he can't share everything. Especially if we're referring to his job."

"I mean kind of. He knew about Kenneth being on his case. That was something he should have told me from the jump. Like he knew something important about my best friend and didn't say anything. I don't like that."

"Have we talked to him about it? Or we just pouting around?"

"You know Asad doesn't argue. He avoids me when I'm upset. When I woke up this morning he was asleep on the couch." She rolled her eyes. "As if he couldn't sleep in the bed with me."

"You know Asad fears being alone. I doubt he slept on the couch because he wanted to. Speak up Nani." She gave her a look making Naomi sigh.

"I know, I know. But what if this is the domino effect that we can't shake back from."

"Girl you always worried about this damn domino that doesn't exist." Sloane shook her head. "I'm telling you that man is not going to let up on you ever. You share his last name. It's not that damn simple."

"Our marriage is a piece of paper and rings. A part of the relationship. We could have been too caught up and rushed into that. I don't want to be with a man who can't tell me shit about him but the surface level of who he is."

"I pretty much walked this man into a lion's den. He didn't say shit about it until it was too late. What if that shit would have went another way. Then yall would have been looking at me crazy."

"Asad is a grown ass man who is very capable of making decisions. He chose to take you to meet your mother. Maybe he should have told you. But what if you would have decided not to meet her then what?"

"That was my decision." Nani shrugged. "Then I gotta deal with my mom and her need to be there. Like please." She scoffed. "I did just fine without her for real."

"Everybody deserves a family Nani. You've been alone most of your life. That's not something I can even imagine. So you're telling me you're just okay with being alone? After marrying a man you knew for how long?" Her eyebrow raised.
