The tires were rolling farther as possible from the place. A girl was in shock. A gun was steaming.
"So...it caught him...?", Mauri said while trying to focus. he screamed painfully. "Why him?!"
"I shot the creature...", Val was blabbing while dropping the gun and covering her head. "I just...just ran to tell him 'we're good' and I saw him being...raised by that thing's maw...like a ragdoll...I shot that thing...it just screamed and..."
Ayaka and embraced Val. The pink haired girl was just crying. Rheagan tried to calm her by laying her hand on Val's back, but the van started to move aggressively while Mauri accelerated.
"Stay close to the center as possible! Those things are pushing us!", he shout while looking on the mirrors.
They were running like beasts, and becoming quite faster. The bumps became more aggressive. The van was becoming hard to control. For a glimpse, Mauri heard how a hauntsmen was running close his side. He took a chance, and opened the door quickly, so he can hit the beast. It worked. The creature made a screech while the van was getting distance. Immediately the car stopped being pushed, and the boy can freely move it. Mauri looked from the mirrors once more, and noted how a hauntsmen was getting tired. He sighed from relief.
"I think it's safe for now. Samantha, right? Can you tell me where's that house you said?", Mauri asked while tried to calm himself.
"Sure, but...your dad has...you want to talk about it?", she asked, concerned.
"I will, but not driving.", he expressed while trying to control its temper.
Renata then got close to them.
"Can we check Rob's home? I think is on the road...he's also marked...", the tattoo girl said while she looked back, just to saw a girl crying her loss. "Fuck...I just want to this to end..."
"We all want to finish this...", Samantha confessed. "I feel it's no tomorrow..."
"Love, it'll be. Because tomorrow you'll gonna tell me how much you love me.", the bleached hair girl said, trying to comfort her. But she got blushed immediately once the black haired lady saw her eyes. "You're so..."
"Thanks for being so odd.", a girl with glasses said while placing gently her hand on Renata's cheek.
Samantha took a deep breath, gave Mauri the address, and then moved to see Val. She was being comforted by Rheagan and Ayaka.
"She's quite calm as anyone can be at the moment. Pretty sure she'll be needing therapy later...we'll figure it out, I hope.", Rheagan said once Samantha was close. "Also, I need to know, why you still so skeptical after seeing something barely comprehensible?"
The girl just sighed and took of her hat.
"I believe all has an explanation. One that can be proved with science and logic. I know what my grandparents believe, as well what Amelia did to me for "spiritual healing"...still...it is worthy? It is worthy to fear a deity that simply let the world to set itself on fire? To see a loving god allowing his children to hate people that simply think otherwise? To set my fate on cards like all has been written? I simply want to give myself the worth I deserve."
"If you say...", Rheagan murmured apathetically.
Samantha then felt Renata's arm hugging her in an unusal way: Instead of teasing and cheering, she was just worried.
"I want to check Rob, my love. I feel guilty because he's not with us...I just dropped some beer and... Who I'm kidding? I emptied a beer on his couch. I know it's a small problem after we look all the place, but...", the bleached haired girl said while trying to not cry.
"We can't stop right now, Renata. We have to survive and...he might be-", Samantha started to say.
"Don't say it", the tattooed girl interrupted. "I know what you mean...just...just please don't."
Samantha then touched gently Renata's hair.
"I want to believe he's fine, hiding. That he'll be complainig with us after this. And our biggest issue will be paying the couch's cleaning...I feel your sorrow, Renata. You're so optimsitic on plain sight, but I feel you're afraid, like me...I want to-"
The car then stopped. and started to move really slow.
"Why you're doing that?" Samantha whispered while getting close. to the driver's place.
Mauri pointed then. Two hauntsmen were there, eating a corpse on the left. A man was on the left, heavily wounded and scared, fleeing. Most of time moving backwards, seeing those creatures.
"The van's back door can be opened from the inside. Once I said now..."
Samantha noded and went back to the backdoors. The girls were nervous the moment she stand up and unlocked the door. A now was heard, and she opened quickly. A man entered, and she closed the doors quickly. Mauri the accelerated and rammed one of the hauntsmen, painting red the front part and cracking the crystal. He kept accelerating while seeing the other hauntsmen chasing him, until getting tired.
"Samantha, that shit was risky but...is he?", Renata was saying while checking the man.
"Rob's alive for now.", Samantha said while seeing how the wounded guy just started to calm himself. "Off to grandpa then."
