The Girl

What if we are not alone, but just blindfolded? What if the forest beyond our sight is filled with things we barely understand or even have a glimpse to a full picture? That idea, hidden in a wicked idea of religious thinking was the same that made Samantha to seek answers.

The night, with a calm air and warm sensation, was entering through the white window her room has slightly opened. The lights were off, yet a screen was reflecting her big eyeglasses, as well giving a small brightness on the place. Her black hair, messing with her eyes, was constantly removed from her eyes every minute she noted.

The pc was showing pictures, videos, texts; all related to her wildest idea: there's something beyond the woods. Took a small, handwritten book with her grandma's names on it. Her grandfather gave it to her after the moment she left the world. Bodies come back to dirt, but life still looks how to sustain itself, that were his words during the burial. She was the only one that was crying with her hands on her mouth.

Yet still, she received the book. One with a lot of unique symbols and a dreamcatcher. Too small to be not more than a necklace she always wear. No reason beyond love: she was the one who opened her doors the moment her world was crumbling.

After a lot of clicks and tapping on the keyboard, she took her pills and decided to stop looking information. Took the book, and read some pages from it. Specially the newest one:

" To my granddaughter. Seeing you smile makes me proud fo the path you took.", she read while folding it and placing it on some pages of the small book. She then just saw the sky while taking off her boots and choker. "Whatever you saw on me was wrong. I'm just a weird girl that still looks her place in a world that never ceases to surprise me..."

She felt the air then, a bit colder.

"That's odd", she said while going to the window to close it. Once closed, she looked through it, looking her favorite view: the forest. Was calming. But, since that moment, she got the sensation that, something was looking her.
