The road was at ease, showin corpses on some areas. Some howls were heard while they've got closer to Samantha's granddad. Rob was unconscious, yet breathing and being attended by Leandra while Val was calm enough to talk.
"So...your gramps...can help us?", the pink haired girl asked.
"I hope.", She said while closing her eyes and placing her hat again to her head.
"Where's my gun?", Val said while looking, until Leandra gave it.
"Your welcome, Val.", the punk girl expressed uncomfortable. And then she went to the black haired girl. "Girl, hope you grandpa has a first aid kit or something. Rob will need it...on the other hand, I've found some black salt sprinkled on his shirt. I guess he used it..."
Mauri then said loudly.
"We're close, according Sam's directions. Any ideas of how to enter there without being eaten by those creatures? I'm sure they're still after us."
"Assholes have good ears. Noted that the moment I threw some boxes in the restaurant", Leandra answered, while getting back with Rob. "So being silent can help. If they can't see us
"I suppose smells can confused them. The creature was tracking us by smell", Rheagan added, while stretching her arms. "I guess we can try to hide our smell...but that doens't change the fact we are hunted by those..."
After those words, Samantha noted a hidden truth beneath Rheagan's words: they're being hunted, until the creatures are satiated. But, how many are? How can be satiated without losing her life or her friends'? The car started to slow down, close to her grandpa's home. And she noted that her idea to be protected also involved a beloved one. Going there was placing a mark to Hubert. She then felt Renata's hug. It was not her usual playful embrace, it was heartwarming, like if she understands the nightmarish thoughts she was having.
"Samantha, my love. I recognize a face of someone who's losing all hope. I don't want you to enter that syphon. It's very hard to get out. And, once you got out...you're wounded. I do joke most of time, because...I cannot smile within myself. So, let's go to your grandpa. Pretty sure he'll be having a solution or something to help us...", the tattoed girl said, affectionately while slowly releasing her. "Better get the keys so we can enter fast as fuck, okay, love?"
"Fuck you...you...dumb lesbian...", a blushed Samantha shout while seeing Renata smirking. "Tomorrow we talk. And no silly faces on this!"
The bleached haired girl just noded while the car stopped. She then ran and open the back door and while helping Val pointing the place it was. Samantha didn't think twice and quickly ran towards the front door. She was close to the door whe Hubert opened and moved her hand to tell them to enter quickly. The girl with glasses then helped to drag Rob. Once all were inside, the old man closed the door, and locked it. A dreamcatcher was placed at the entrance. Once done that, he hugged Samantha.
"My dear child. I was worried for you. I'm so glad you're okay. All of you.", he said while looking all faces, and noting two siblings whose lost was that night. "I see you've lost someone...Please stay with us until the night ends. I can prepare some coffeee for you."
"He does make a good coffee. I approve it as a coffee addict", Renata added, and then asked. "Now to the elephant in the room: How you're safe?"
The old man sighed while looking through the window.
"I've got marked too this morning. I keep it to myself, hoping I'll be having a week or two to properly be prepared. To properly protect Samantha. Yet this night they've marked all the preys. Years ago, my wife and I discovered some ways to become untraceable. Dreamcatchers made with the correct feathers and the precise pattern can give the incorrect scent. Black salt is a temporary way to prevent them. How you've seen?"
"Four. I wounded one with a gun, and my brother rammed one way here", Val answered nervously.
"So two less to worry. They eat the wounded.", he looked his phone then."8:53...I'll be watching the entrance for a while. Assist the wounded one, and try to rest a bit. The night ends once the sun starts to fade the dark sky, but before then...we must take care each other. Thank next morning we're on summer. Better than winter ones."
Samantha and friends tried to calm themselves. Ayaka and Leandra started to help rob's wounds. Mauri and Val were drinking coffe with Hubert while trying to not see them through the window. Rheagan, on the other hand, was looking the dark view. Samantha got close, but her reflection on the window was saw by the trad goth.
"I want to study them from here. It seems they can't simply find us. I feel they have a great sight at night; but as moths, the artificial lights affects them. Fortunately the similarities end there...I guess we all gonna sleep here...should've brought comfty clothes...", the blue hair one explained always looking outside.
Samantha sighed but was called by her grandpa.
"Samantha, I need to talk to you. Alone", he said once she was front of him. Both walked to the hallway close to her dorm.
"What happens, granddad?", she asked, curisously.
"Please try to convince all to rest on your room. If something happens, please use this", he explained while giving the keys of his pickup and a reddish liquid on a small tube. "Give the keys to the one who can drive, but sprinkle the substance to you and those important to you. But don't use it on me, I have mine."
"Why you're giving this...?", Samantha inquired. "What do you plan? What do you know...?"
"There's a moment the dreamcatchers got weaker. If we're two or three, it won't worry me, but that's not the case. If what I fear happens, take your grandma's book, use the tube, get out of here and keep moving until the sun starts to rise", Hubert said while looking Samantha in her eyes. "Be wise with the liquid, and be wise as always my treasured daughter".
Hubert hugged her grandchild later and left to the living room, to check others. Samantha looked the liquid, while 'those important to you' was echoing. She sighed, and saw all the people there. But one there had to be clear as crystal that moment. She walked to her, without hesitation, and blushed she said:
"To my room, Renata. Joke's are over".
