The mist was moving towrads them. They didn't think twice and entered the pickup. On this case, Samantha and Renata were on the backside, so Val and Leandra could warm up. Once the car strated to move, thy mist was being left behind. Once the mist was far, and the car slowed down enough, Samantha exhaled relieved.
"Fuck...that was close...", she said while adjuting her glasses and checkgin her hat.
"Luv, I still don't think we're out or...well the mist thing that's following us. Yet, yeah, were safe for now...", Renata added while hugging her girlfriend, and stealing her hat.
"Hey! That's mine!", yelled Samantha, while seeing the bleached haired lady using it. "Besides, it doesn't fit you."
"I think otherwise my dear", the tattoed girl said while getting back the hat to her owner. "But fits better on your precious head, honey."Her face suddenly changed to a dubious one. "It's all over...? We're gonna be forced to...to do this forever? We can't run forever. And I can't since I'm so advanced on my therapy...have any ideas?"
"Not really, but I believe that it'll end this day, at least.", Samantha expressed while returning the hug. "The idea that the book might have the information, but we can't get it due language, it's harsh...but, if they eat the wounded and fallen, it means they might be satiated this night...I hope that..."
"Thankfully the mist is slow. So we can rest a while from this traumatic moment...how many people were...marked tonight?", Renata murmured concerned.
"We might know this morning...let's focus on survive for now. And please, try to not think about that. I know we just escaped...", sadly answered Samantha while kissing Renatas forehead. "I'm gonna do the best I can to keep us alive. Even Rheagan..."
"You really have something against her, dont' ya?", tattooed girl noted. "What happened with you two?"
Samantha sighed.
"We both went on the same HS. And we both discovered ourselves on the same religious place. After school, we went to a safe place and dressed up. I had my romantic goth era, as Rheagan had her gothabilly one...really weird, we were really closed friends. Until that day", she sighed.
"If it's hard to say, you don't have to", Renata suggested while seeng her girlfriend's eyes.
Samantha noded.
"I know, but still I want ot share you that. I wasn't invited to Agatha's party due this. And I don't talk about it 'cause it drives me mad. But, after all I lived this night...seems so small in comparison. I...had this crush on Agatha since I've met her..."
"Sam, we all had a crush on Agatha. Except Rob and Leandra as I know", Renata said, trying to ease her partner.
"Yeah...anyways, I told Rheagan, quite before, that I liked her, and that I was planning to date her somehow. She didn't judge that moment, just asked me if I was sure and all. Days passed and Rheagan invited me to drink a coffee or something. I just know I started to use the hat that day. Rheagan appeared then, talking about how my grandma's coven rejected her due her idea of 'hurt people in order to heal them'...And I was hearing her. Until suddenly she tried to kiss me. I refused. I mean, I was trying on Agatha while getting my shit in order after Amelia kicked me out like ten days ago... So I refused, and asked her to still being friends. She just left the place without a word. I thought that moment she was having a bad day. Stopped talking to me since, but...a month later. She sent me a picture of her and Agatha, kissing and cuddling. Time later I just...just stopped talking with Rheagan and Agatha...worst part is that she's not even sad about that", Samantha explained, moody.
"Geez, luv, I mean, the picture part, surely was a bitch move...but, we're toegether now. And living a nightmarish situation...", the bleached haired girl tried to relieve the black haired lady.
"Such a way to start a relation", the girl with glasses added in sarcasm. "Yet, at least I'll be with someone I love at the end fo the world..."
Renata smiled while looking the mist was now way far as before. Then she felt the car was slowing down, until it stopped.
"We're at the water thing?", the tattooed girl said while getting down the vehicle, as well helping her girlfriend.
"Can't be, at the pace we had, there's at least like quarter of a mile...and there's nothing here that resembles a water treatment facility", Samantha noted, quite nervous.
Mauri got down the car and looked up Samantha.
"Car's empty of fuel. We gonna have to walk from here.", he said while giving the black haired girl the keys back. "Rob said he can walk from here. So, just following the road, right?"
Samantha noded and all started to walk.During the walk, Samantha looked back sometimes to be aware about the mist's move. Was a bit relaxing. She even smiled happily once she saw the facility from far.But then she noticed the silence.
"We must speed up, now if possible", the girl with glasses said while making all warned.
"Why we must speed up?", Leandra asked.
"Silence in the forest could mean a predator or predators are nearby. We just have two guns and a wounded person. I prefer to move faster.", Sam said quite nervous.
"You should said 'three weapons', since I have this beauty, but smacking a bear is not on my bucket list yet", Renata said while moving at a faster pace and showing the bat she took.
They were close, at thirty feet from the entrance. The gate was closed, yet they thought that saying the officer that the car was with no gas might make them help. At twenty, Samantha felt an intense fear, coming from her left side. She saw it again, from far. The same feeling that she was carrying, that all were carrying was becoming intense, and chilling. She then, at far, saw two shining eyes seeing right there, watching their moves. An unnatural wind blew from there, whispering a simple word:
Fa...e...Fa...e...
All were frozen after hearing such word being said so perfectly loud. At far were some trees moving its tree crown violently, and against the wind. No one needed to say anything, simply they ran as fast as possible to enter the place. Samantha ran faster and noted the gate unlocked. Started to pushed and opened ot fast so eveyone could enter. Once all were inside, she closed as fast as possible the gate, and locked it. Screams and scratches were heard form the other side of the steel door aggresively. The silence came back sooner, as they seemed to look for another way to hunt them.
"They might try to enter. We're still marked. And it seems it's more than seven", Samantha said quite alerted.
"Luv, we must seek another shelter too...", Renata whispered to her girlfriend while slowly moving her head to an specific direction.
Before Ayaka found and turned on the lights, the black haired girl spotted a corpse close to the gate. It shown some bites and missing parts of the body. once the lights illuminated the area, there was more than just a corpse.
"This is...like all the guards from the night shift...", Leandra expressed while holding herself. "But...how the water...?"
"They set it on auto. Only if there's something interfering the filtering process might stop al the machines. That's why water still being distributed. No souls until tomorrow at 8", Rheagan answered calmly in words, but her tone was breaking slowly. "Main problem now is that there outside. They might find a way to get here. Any idea?"
