The grand hall was aglow with candlelight, casting flickering shadows on the walls as nobles, diplomats, and royals from across the kingdoms gathered for the evening's ball. The coronation had gone off without a hitch—or so it seemed. Elsa had remained poised, regal, and untouchable throughout the ceremony, her icy façade unbroken as she took the oath and ascended to the throne. But Rapunzel, sitting near the front with Eugene, had seen the strain behind her cousin's eyes. It had taken all of Elsa's willpower to keep her powers in check, and Rapunzel could tell it wasn't over yet.

Now, as the orchestra played and guests twirled across the ballroom, Elsa stood at the edge of the crowd, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. She wore her crown and royal gown with the same grace she'd shown during the ceremony, but there was a tension in her posture, a stiffness that betrayed her inner turmoil.

Rapunzel and Eugene entered the ballroom hand in hand, dressed in their own royal finery, though Eugene looked slightly uncomfortable in his formal attire. He leaned over to Rapunzel, whispering, "I don't know about you, but I'm not sure I'll ever get used to wearing something this tight."

Rapunzel smiled, though her eyes were already scanning the room for Elsa. "It suits you," she said absentmindedly, her gaze finally landing on her cousin. "There she is."

Eugene followed her line of sight and sighed. "She doesn't look like she's having fun."

"No," Rapunzel agreed quietly. "She looks like she's barely holding it together."

Before they could approach, Anna swept across the room, laughing as she danced with Hans. Her red hair spun in waves as Hans twirled her, his own smile wide and charming. Rapunzel watched them with a frown, her earlier conversation with Anna still fresh in her mind. Hans seemed too perfect, too smooth. And Anna, for all her sweetness, was naïve when it came to love.

"They look happy," Eugene remarked, though Rapunzel could hear the uncertainty in his voice.

"Maybe too happy," Rapunzel replied, her frown deepening. "I don't know, something feels off about Hans."

Eugene raised an eyebrow. "You think so too? I've had my eye on him since we got here. Something about the guy doesn't sit right with me."

Rapunzel nodded, her suspicions growing. "I'm worried Anna's rushing into things. She told me earlier that Hans proposed, and she's seriously considering saying yes."

Eugene's eyes widened. "What? They've only known each other for a few days!"

"I know," Rapunzel said, her tone grim. "That's why we need to keep an eye on him. I don't want Anna getting hurt."

As they spoke, Hans and Anna spun closer, their laughter drawing the attention of the nearby guests. Hans caught sight of Rapunzel and Eugene, offering a cordial nod, but there was something in his eyes that made Rapunzel's unease grow. It was a flash of calculation, quickly hidden behind his charming smile.

"Rapunzel! Eugene!" Anna called out as they drew near. "Isn't this amazing? I can't believe how perfect everything is!"

Rapunzel forced a smile. "It's beautiful, Anna. You look like you're having a great time."

Anna beamed, her joy infectious. "I am! Hans is such an incredible dancer, and everything's just... it's like a dream come true!" She glanced at Hans, who gave her a soft, affectionate smile that made Rapunzel's stomach twist. "We've been talking about the future, you know. About... getting married."

Rapunzel's smile faltered, but she kept her voice light. "That's a big decision, Anna. Are you sure you're ready for something like that?"

Anna's expression faltered for a split second before she regained her composure. "I know it's fast, but it just feels... right, you know? Like we're meant to be."

Rapunzel hesitated, wanting to say more but knowing this wasn't the time or place. "Well, just... make sure you take your time. Marriage is a big commitment."

Anna waved a hand dismissively. "I know, I know. Don't worry, I've got this." She turned back to Hans, who was watching the exchange with polite interest, though Rapunzel couldn't shake the feeling that he was listening far too closely. "Come on, Hans, let's get back to dancing."

As they moved away, Rapunzel sighed, her concern for Anna deepening. She turned to Eugene, her voice low. "We need to watch him. Something's not right."

Eugene nodded in agreement. "I'm with you. But what about Elsa? She looks like she's about to fall apart."

Rapunzel's gaze drifted back to Elsa, who was standing near the edge of the ballroom, watching the festivities with a strained expression. "I'll talk to her. She needs someone to be there for her, and I don't think she's going to open up unless I push."

Eugene squeezed her hand. "Go on. I'll keep an eye on Anna and Hans."

Rapunzel nodded, giving him a grateful smile before making her way through the crowd toward Elsa. As she approached, Elsa's posture stiffened even more, her blue eyes flicking toward Rapunzel before quickly looking away.

"Elsa?" Rapunzel said softly, stepping beside her cousin. "Are you okay?"

Elsa's jaw tightened, and for a moment, she didn't respond. Then, in a voice barely above a whisper, she said, "I don't think I can do this, Rapunzel."

Rapunzel's heart ached at the vulnerability in Elsa's voice. "Do what?"

"This," Elsa gestured vaguely at the ballroom, her eyes filled with a deep, internal struggle. "All of it. Being queen. Controlling... this thing inside me."

Rapunzel frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"

Elsa turned to face her fully, and Rapunzel could see the fear etched in her cousin's features. "You don't understand. There's something... something dangerous about me. I've been hiding it my whole life, but now it's getting harder. I'm afraid of what will happen if I lose control."

Rapunzel reached out, placing a comforting hand on Elsa's arm. "Elsa, whatever it is, you don't have to go through it alone. I'm here. We're family."

Elsa shook her head, pulling away. "No, you don't understand. No one can help me. I have to do this on my own."

Before Rapunzel could say more, Elsa turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd. Rapunzel stood there for a moment, her chest tight with worry. Something was wrong—deeply wrong—and she didn't know how to fix it.
