Sunstone ran across the beautiful field with his siblings, jumping and leaping and and having fun. He saw his mother in the distance, standing outside their den, waving to them as they ran closer. Sunstone was happy, laughing, feeling joyful. He closed his eyes and laughed. He opened them back up. He looked around. Stag, Frog, Herron, and his mother had disappeared withing the few seconds he had his eyes closed. He stopped running, and looked around. Where did they go? They couldn't have gone very far during a few seconds? He was just here with them? He looked around. Soon, everything shook. It shook violently, sending cracks through the ground. The ground began cracking, splitting in some places. He looked at his out, and saw it crumbling before him. No, no no!! A earthquake? How did this happen? The ground began crumbling under him, cracks and long drops forming. He wanted to cry out, ask to stop, but no words came out. He crumpled into a sad, helpless ball, talons on his eyes and tail wrapped around his curled up body..

Sunstone's eyes snapped open. He awake to a great sight of Viper standing over him.

"Good morning." She said. "We had to wake you up. If you weren't awake by now you'd be late to classes."

"Oh. Thanks, Viper." He said, rubbing his eyes. His eyes still felt heavy and his voice was hoarse from sleep. "I'm glad you woke me up. I would have been late." He chuckled.

"No problem!" Viper shrugged, walking away to the bathroom.

Sunstone felt a nice feeling in hair chest around Viper. He didn't know what it was? What was the weird, yet wonderful feeling every time he talked to her? Did he like her? Did he think she was nice? Well he did- but did his body react as well?

These stupid thoughts, my over thinking brain. This is probably how it feels to be around pretty girls that are nice and you like. I wish I knew what this feeling was though.. Sunstone thought.

Sunstone yawned, and sighed, getting his stiff body up from his bed.

He rubbed his tired eyes, and sauntered over to the bathroom. He saw Snowbird in the bathroom as well, fixing his scales.

"You look tired!" He said, combing back his scales with his talon.

"I am." Sunstone chuckled, standing beside him and fixing his scales as well. He combed back his ruffled scales, and neatened his spikes on his head.

Snowbird nodded, and fluffed his spikes on his back.

Sunstone finished his scales very quickly, and added the shine gel to get the nice gleam to his scales for his first day. He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment, and nodded, feeling good with his look.

Snowbird noticed how gleaming Sunstones scales were, and was intrigued. "Woah, how did you get your scales so shiny?" He asked. "What are you using?"

"Oh, I'm using the shiny scales gel. It's big. I got it cheap one of the markets." He said. "It does make your scales nice and shiny! Good quality. I'd recommend."

"Could I borrow some maybe?" Asked Snowbird. "If- if you don't mind. I know I just met you, so I understand if you-"

"Yes, of course. Here ya go." He said, sliding the container of gel across the counter to Snowbird.

"Thanks. Heh- i- I get a little ahead of myself, and- anxiety isn't fun." Snowbird chuckled.

"You're good." Sunstone said, smiling.

Snowbird breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks." He chuckled, opening the container. He put some on his talons, loving the cold temperature of it on his scales. Of course, he's an icewing, so he always loves cold things. Hot makes him sluggish.

Snowbird carefully rubbed on the gel in thin layers, adding a nice little gleam to his scales.

Sunstone watched. "Lookin' slick!" He said.

Snowbird smiled, closed the lid to the container, and slid it down back to Sunstone. "Thanks! You to." He said.

Sunstone chuckled. "Thanks, dude." He said. Should I call him dude? That's a friend term right? I don't know if he considers me a friend? What if I just made him angry but I just don't know? What if he hates me? WHAT IF HE'LL NEVER WANT TO BE MY FRIEND?!! WHAT IF HE TURNS EVERYONE AGAINST ME?!!! STOP Sunstone. You are okay. I probably did nothing.. I hope. It's okay, it's fine, if he doesn't like me.. that's... okay? Is it though? BY THE MOONS SUNSTONE!! STOP THINK LIKE THAT!! Everything is fine, this whole year will be fine, whatever happens is fine. Sunstone thought. He wants to be loved and accepted, have a purpose. And the first thing to that happening is dragons liking him.

"Eyy, you to man!" Snowbird said happily. To Sunstone, it seem as if Snowbird was relieved, happy, about Sunstone calling him that. See, your stupid, anxious thoughts were WRONG! He scolded himself. Shut UP MIND! Snowbird is HAPPY!! He doesn't hate me! Things aren't going to crumble after you say dude. He thought, his face in his mind rolling his emerald green eyes.

Sunstone smiled, and walked into the main room where they all slept last night. His eyes flicked to Viper, and he noticed her own eyes were looking at him. He looked away quickly, as soon as that weird yet.. good feeling came back. He rubbed his neck, and continued doing what he was doing. He walked to his big-ish cubby hole in the wall by his bed. He grabbed his bag, and a wave of embarrassment washed over him. He has his name embroidered on the side of his bag in red thread. What if they think he's babyish? What I'd they think it's stupid?

He grabbed his bag cautiously, holding the red embroidery facing his where it was least visible. Then Reef walked by then eyed his bag. Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no.. I think he sees it. He's eyeballing the bag! What if he sees the embroidery? Oh, three moons, oh dear, oh no, oh moons.

"I think there's somthin' on your bag?" Reef said, walking up. He turned the bag over. "I think it's fuzz- Woah!! You have your name on your bag?! That's awesome!! I wish my mom did that for me!! What else can your mom do?" He asked wistfully.

"Uh.. well- well she can sew?" He said quietly. He didn't say he still had his first teddy she made him when he was about a month old in his bag.

"Really? That's awesome! Maybe she's like magic or something!" He mused.

"I- I don't think she's magic." Sunstone chuckled. "She can cook a killer venison though."

Corroborres ears perked up. "Venison? I love venison! I always love to have a good roasted venison."

Sunstone nodded. "I have to eat whole venisons with other dragons. Can't eat a whole one alone."

"You're just teeny tiny and scrawny! I can eat a whole one alone!" Corroborre shrugged confidently.

He chuckled. Sunstone was glad his worrying and the fear that other dragons won't like him was false. He liked these dragons, and he was glad they liked him, or at least in his own mind.
