A detour

They opened the garage and flew away. "Kronos Island, here we come!", said Tails, highly determined. However, a few minutes later, something awful happened. In midair over the ocean, a police helicopter saw them and showed up, and it was going to be a huge problem.

"This is the police! Return immediately or else!". They were scared and the police were pointing a laser at them, but not at them specifically.

They were shooting at the front of the plane, trying to make the engine fail. Tails made the plane move erratically to make it harder for them. However, the police had a failsafe.

One of them had a hook and shot it at one of the plane's wings, which worried Tails. The police soon after flew backwards, making the plane lose flight due to it being pushed back and drastically losing speed suddenly. As it rapidly started falling, Tails and Blaze closed their eyes, bracing for impact in the water, and they crashed.

The police checked the wreck, and nothing showed up. "Alright, officers. Our target is finished. Time to head to Station Square for possible intruders.". However, this was just a strategy. Turned out Tails was using his tails to swim, and he held on to Blaze. As soon as the police left, they went up. "Well, we didn't expect that.", Tails said, scared.

They looked around, and it was just water. No land in sight. They were truly lost. "Is this it? We're stuck, the wreck being the only thing that will keep us afloat.", Tails said, looking down in sadness, only for Blaze to respond. "Why don't we swim there? It shouldn't be that far, right?". "Well, in that case, get ready for a LOT of swimming.", Tails said, telling her the island is far away, but they had no choice, so they swam to their destination.

An hour later, tired, they saw the landmass of another continent from far away, and saw lighthouses searching for nearby life. They immediately went around it far away, knowing any messup would lead to true global infection. Luckily, no one detected them, so they were safe.

They soon found a small unnamed island far away from anything else, and they decided to stay for a while, knowing their journey will take a very long time. "Blaze, imagine if Silver had no time travel abilities and was sitting on a rock, bored to death *chuckle*", said Tails, trying to find something positive. Unlike Seaport City's incapable mayor causing trouble with no end, they were actually going beyond and reaching the very source.

After a while of walking around, they found a rusted small building. "Hey, Blaze! We got some help! Look!", Tails said in optimism and determination. Once they got there, they realized it was an abandoned warehouse. "Maybe something in here might be useful in making a new plane...", said Blaze in curiosity.

"Hello? Helloooo? Anyone there?... Alright, Blaze. Look for any electronics and plane parts here. There should be something helpful here.", said Tails, hoping for a good outcome.

Walking through the aisles of different things, they found one aisle that had car parts. "Alright, check if any of this could be useful in making a plane.", said Tails, hoping to find the right items, fully unaware that an intruder showed up...

They heard distant growling, and Tails, with his eyes very open, peeked to look around, and they found 2 wolf Mobians walking on all fours, causing his blood to run cold. Whispering was the only way to speak now. "Blaze... don't look, just get random parts and let's get out of here.", whispered Tails, before a small bolt on top of a package they were taking fell onto the floor by accident.

They froze for a second, as they heard them run to Tails and Blaze. "RUN!", yelled Tails, pointing Blaze to the exit, only for one of them to block it, causing her to go back. "They blocked it! Is there any other way?!", said Blaze in panic.

"No. Go left, I'll distract them!", said Tails, which Blaze followed. Tails ran to a nearby hallway, banging items to distract them from Blaze, who was gonna make a u-turn to exit. Luckily, she made it out, but Tails was remaining.

Tails used his tails to run faster, quickly outrunning them, but then accidentally slipped, causing one of his tails to get caught on something and get bent. He soon heard a snap, causing him to yelp in pain.

He quickly fell, holding his tail and closing his eyes, tearing up in pain. Knowing the wolves were on their way, he just curled up into a wall, waiting for his doom, until he realized that the car part he had gotten could be a weapon, so, while in pain, he threw the pipe piece at one and a gas tank part at another, knocking them out, and he ran out with as much as he could.

Once he got out, Blaze was surprised until she heard him yell in pain. "Are you OK?", asked Blaze, running to him. "No, I broke my tail... It hurts really ba- ow! Really bad! *sniff*", he said, trying to handle the pain, but before he kept going, Blaze stopped him.

"Don't worry, we'll get there, but... let's just sit here for a while, OK?. I don't want you to get hurt. You may be dangerous to others, but I will not let it hurt you even more by walking, OK?", she said, trying to make him feel better, which worked. "But what about-", Tails said, worried, but Blaze cut him off and sat by him. Due to her seriousness, she gave him a slight smile, but it was genuine.

Meanwhile, at Sonic's house...

While Amy and Cream were struggling keeping themselves normal, Sonic was starting to get tired of what was essentially babysitting. "I bet Tails is having a nice adventure while I need to stay and take care of them... I hope he's fine... I wonder what Blaze is up to. She is likely at that lab or some weird place, according to the news back then", Sonic said to himself.

He soon heard them making noises and move stuff, becoming animalistic again, worrying him. Hopefully, it ends soon. Sonic was scared he was next. Soon, he heard a doorbell ring. He was confused and peeked through the door.

"Hello?", said Sonic, curious as to why an officer showed up. "This is officer T-8...", as he showed his badge, and using a suit like every other officer, "... and we have detected more Mobians that usual here. Please explain.". Sonic quickly said they were 2 roommates that were affected, which the police believed (Sonic was very trustworthy to them). "I don't know how to fully hide them if they force their way in...", thought Sonic, very worried.

"Come on, Tails... hurry up."
