"Like father, like son."
CHAPTER 7
perfect sonWells steps out of the dropship, hearing the laughing and cheering of the teenagers.
He walks towards them in pain. His ankle still hurts. He thinks it's probably sprained.
He walks through the crowd and then sees Murphy holding a girl, Fox, by her wrist above the fire. Murphy takes off her wristband.
Everyone starts cheering when her wristband falls into the fire and burns.
Wells looks at them shockingly. He can't believe how they could do this. How can they all be so selfish?
"Who's next?", asks Bellamy loudly as he looks into the crowd.
Wells angrily walks up to Bellamy. He can't let this happen and do nothing.
"What the hell are you doing?", asks Wells angrily and loudly as he glares at Bellamy.
Mbege wants to step towards Wells, but Bellamy holds him back and a smirk appears on his face.
"We're liberating ourselves. What does it look like?", he asks still with his mischief smirk on his face.
"It looks like you're trying to get us all killed. The communication system is dead. These wristbands are all we got. Take them off, and the Ark will think we're dying, that it's not safe for them to follow", explains Wells loud to everyone in the crowd.
Everyone stays quiet for a moment and Bellamy is thinking about something he could say.
"That's the point, Chancellor. We can take care of ourselves, can't we?", Bellamy asks loudly.
Everyone cheers for him. His plan is working.
"You think this is a game? Those aren't just our friends and our parents up there. They're our farmers, our doctors, our engineers. I don't care what he tells you. We won't survive here on our own, and besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want the rest of our people to come down?", asks Wells loudly and angrily.
Wells is almost the same as his father. He loves following the rules. But down here, there are no rules and even if he wants to change their minds, he can't. Bellamy is already in control of them.
"My people already are down. Those people locked my people up. Those people killed my father for the crime of making my mother pregnant twice. Your father did that", Bellamy tells angry to Wells.
"My father didn't write the laws", Wells tries to protect his father, but he knows his father is wrong and he feels guilty about that. But all his father did was to keep his people alive. He has his reasons, just like everyone else does.
