"It's in the eyes. Always the eyes."

CHAPTER 10
her wristband

Madison is on her knees in the dropship panting and panicking. She tries her best to not have a panic attack.

She can't do anything about it. Bellamy ruined everything.

Her eyes fill with tears of anger and frustration.

She angrily throws all her stuff into her bag. Her map, a bottle of water, some nuts to eat and a knife she made last night.

The moment she hears the hatch open, she immediately wipes her tears from her eyes.

She doesn't want anyone to see her cry.

"There you are. When my father said they didn't leave us anything, he really meant it", Wells says as he walks up the ladder.

Madison grabs her bag and stands up. She walks past Wells to the table next to him and puts the bag back down.

She feels sorry about what happened to him, but still won't be friends with him.

She closes the zipper of the bag and turns to Wells, but then she notices a knife cut on his arm.

She grabs his arm and takes a closer look.

"It's just a scratch", Wells sighs irritated.

"You're making friends fast. Keep it covered. It could get infected", she advises him, "nice pack."

Madison knows a lot about medical care. She always wanted to be a doctor, so she spent most of her time studying for it, until her dream was ruined when she got arrested.

"Yeah, seatbelts and insulation. I also packed part of the parachute, figured we could use it to carry out Jasper", Wells tells her.

Madison doesn't need his help and he certaintly doesn't need to come along with her

"Good. Give it to someone else", she says irritated as she steps towards the ladder, "you're not coming with us."

"My ankle's fine", Wells speaks as he follows her.

"It's not your ankle, Wells, it's you", she says while climbing down the ladder.

"You came back for reinforcements. I'm gonna help", Wells says.

He follows her down.

She doesn't want his help. She already has something else in her mind.

Monty hears their conversation and approaches them.

"Madison, he's right. We need him. So far, no one else has volunteered", he says.

Madison knows who's going with her and who's not and unfortunately Monty isn't coming along either.
