CHAPTER 5 'first son, first to die'
Clarke walks grumpily in the front of the group and leads everyone on the right path.
Clarke, like Madison, has a map and knows exactly the route to Mount Weather.
Madison walks next to the Korean boy and the boy with the goggles.
The Korean boy is Monty Green. Monty is an incredibly smart boy. He grew up on Farm Staton with his best friend, Jasper Jordan, the boy with the goggles. They have known each other since childhood.
Both of them got arrested after they were caught stealing herbs when Monty forgot to replace them.
Finn sees a beautiful purple flower and gently pulls it from the bushes.
He turns towards Octavia and steps closer to her. He softly puts it in her long, straight brown hair as they both look deeply into each other's eyes.
"Now, that, my friend, is game", Jasper whispers to Monty with a smile.
"That, my friend, is poison sumac", corrects Monty.
Madison giggles at his comment.
"What? It is?", asks Octavia surprised as she throws the flower out of her hair.
"The flowers aren't poisonous. They're medicinal, calming, actually", explains Monty.
Monty knows a lot about it.
"His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark", Jasper talks about Monty as he takes a bite from the flower.
Clarke turns back in annoyance and looks at everyone one by one.
"Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?", she asks.
She's right. They have to speed up if they want to get back before dark, but how can she ignore all these beautiful, new things?
"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?", asks Finn confused.
"Well, it's simple. I wonder, why haven't we seen any animals? Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. Sure, is pretty, though. Come on", Clarke wonders, but soon she turns around and continues walking.
Madison rolls her eyes in annoyance at Clarke.
She finds her so annoying.
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac", she says grumpily as she starts walking behind her.
She hears the others laughing at her comment as they follow her, but she doesn't laugh or even smile at all. She wasn't joking.
"I got to know what you two did to get busted", says Finn curious.
